To Use

Inserting/Replacing Batteries

If the battery level indicator in the LCD Display flashes, the batteries are low and must be replaced. Remove the Control Unit from the cradle on the belt before inserting or replacing batteries.

1. Firmly pull the Control Unit up out of the the cradle.

2. Remove the battery compartment cover by sliding it in the direction of the arrow.

3. Insert three alkaline batteries observing the polarity markings inside the battery compartment. Do not use rechargeable batteries in this device.

4. Replace battery compartment cover.

Attaching the Belt

WARNING

• To avoid serious personal injury, use the device only around the abdomen. Do not use on head, neck, or chest area.

1. Before each training session, ensure the skin underneath the belt is clean and free of creams or oils.

2. Lay the belt down with the electrodes facing up.

3. Dampen the electrode covers and your stomach with water. Make sure that the electrodes are evenly moistened to avoid voltage spikes during use.

4. Place the belt around your waist such that the electrodes are positioned on your stomach and the Control Unit is over your navel, then fasten the hook and loop closure. The belt should be tight enough for good contact between the electrodes and skin, but not constricting.

NOTE:

• If the device is not used after it is switched on, it shuts off after five minutes.

• If the belt is not big enough for your waist measurement, the supplied belt extension can be used.

• Only attach the belt around the stomach. The navel should be covered at the center.

Training Notes

• For the first week, do not use the abdominal muscle belt more than once a day to allow your muscles to acclimatize slowly to the device. Afterwards, you can train more frequently.

• To allow your muscles to recover, rest for at least five hours between training sessions.

• Work through each program one step at a time. Programs A - E are designed so that your muscles have enough time to adapt to more intensive training with each subsequent training session. Programs differ in pulse frequency, pulse duration, and delay time between pulses.

The device is set to work through the programs A to E and repeat each program a different number of times. You can also manually select a program.

NOTE: The electrode pads are not replaceable. If they are worn or defective please call Customer Service at 1-800-536-0366.

How to Train

What You Feel When Training

At first you will feel a slight tingling sensation. As the intensity increases, you will feel muscle contractions in the surrounding area and directly under the electrodes.

Each contraction starts with a slow rise in voltage which is held for several seconds. The muscle then relaxes again gently.

Switching the Device On

Press the On/Off Button; the device beeps and the LCD Display illuminates. Program “A” is activated the first time the device is started.

Selecting a Program

The belt has five coordinated programs that you can work through over the course of several weeks. Start the first week with program “A” at a low level and raise the level of your training with increasing muscle strengthening. The device is programmed so that after a certain number of training cycles, the next higher program is set. You can also select a program yourself according to your fitness level.

Training Sessions

Each session consists of three phases:

• A 2-minute warm-up phase (30 Hz) that prepares the muscles for training

• A training phase (different frequencies depending on the program selected)

• A 2-minute relaxation phase (30 Hz)

Setting the intensity level

NOTE: The intensity can only be set if the electrodes have skin contact. Intensity level must be set at the beginning of each training session. Press the Plus and Minus Buttons (+ and -) to increase and decrease the intensity respectively.

Depending on the intensity, you will first feel tingling and later a muscle contraction. Set the intensity level only as high as feels comfortable.

Stopping pulses that are too strong

You can reduce the intensity at any time or switch off the device again by pressing and holding the On/Off key for about two seconds. If you detach the belt so that skin contact in the electrode region is interrupted, the intensity level will return to zero. Even when contact is reestablished with the skin, no more voltage is applied.

Avoiding unwanted pulse changes

To avoid accidentally changing the intensity, press and hold the Program/Lock Button (P) for three seconds; the device will beep and display the key symbol ). To deactivate, press the Program/Lock Button again.

Reacting to unpleasant sensations

If you feel prickling or itching on your skin or if you only feel tingling and not muscle contraction, shut off the device and:

1. Inspect electrodes for damage or wear.

2. Ensure electrode covers are in place and undamaged.

3. Remove belt and moisten electrode covers again.

4. Ensure good skin contact and sufficient moistening for each subsequent usage.

Interrupting a training session

To take a break during a program, press the Pause Button. The device beeps and the pause symbol appears in the LCD Display. Press the Pause Button again to continue.

Counting the number of training sessions

You can see the number of completed training sessions on the LCD Display. The numbers after the program denote the number of completed programs and are stored until the batteries are changed.
