C. Espresso function
Preparing the machine
n Check the water level in the tank and fill if necessary.
n Check that the rotating control button is set to PENDING (
) and that the TEMPERATURE
SELECTION button (h2) is at .
n Switch the machine on by turning the START/STOP button to the (I) setting.
n The ON and TEMPERATURE lights (h1) come on.
IMPORTANT
As long as the TEMPERATURE light (h1) is on, the ideal temperature for making your espresso
has not yet been reached. Wait until this light goes out.
n Insert the filter holder into the group head by aligning the handle with the marking "INSERTION" and
lock by moving the filter holder from left to right (fig.8).
n Firmly lock the filter holder into place and make sure it is properly inserted by pushing it to the right as
far as it will go.
n Place 1 or 2 cups (as necessary) on the cup rest grill and ensure that it/they are correctly positioned
under the coffee dispensing spout.
Coffee preparation
n It is imperative that you wait until the TEMPERATURE light goes out, indicating that the machine
has reached the optimum temperature for making coffee.
n Turn the rotating control button to ESPRESSO (fig.3).
n The pump is briefly activated to pre-wet the ground coffee and then stops for a few seconds and starts
again to dispense the coffee.
This pre-wetting process ensures even greater release of the aromas.
n When the required amount of coffee is reached, stop the flow of coffee by turning the rotating control
button to PENDING (
) (fig.4).
n Wait a few seconds until the surplus of water in the thermo block has been drained (until the “suction
noise” has stopped).
NOTE
A little steam may be released from the water tank. This is completely normal.
n Remove the cup(s) then unlock the filter holder by turning it from right to left until it can be released
from the group head.
n Drink the espresso immediately, so that its aromas and thick cream can be enjoyed to the full.
Cleaning the filter and filter holder
n Empty the filter using a small spoon or carefully tapping it against a surface so that any waste can be
collected.
n Remove the filter.
Important
The metal parts on the filter holder and filter are very hot.
n Rinse the filter and filter holder under hot water and dry.
