Thank you for purchasing a Sealey product. Manufactured to a high standard, this product will, if used according to these
instructions, and properly maintained, give you years of trouble free performance.

1. INTRODUCTION
Protects against arc ash caused by short circuits on live electrical systems. Manufactured from clear polycarbonate,
with anti-misting and anti-scratch treatment. Ratchet mechanism so the visor can be ipped up when not used. Ratchet
adjustable headband with nylon comfort band. Suitable for use while wearing glasses. Shield dimensions: 220 x 396mm.
Conforms to EN 166, EN 170, Class 1, GS-ET-29, ANSI Z 87.1.

2. SAFETY
8 DO NOT over expose to sunlight.
8 DO NOT use for welding
8 DO NOT expose to open re for long periods of time.
8 Replace when exposed to chemicals, replace if damaged by mechanical impact. Only use original replacement parts.
8 Make sure that your work place is su󰀩ciently illuminated.
8 Insu󰀩cient storage packaging may decrease the level of protection. Follow the instructions as per Storage Section.
9 The following warnings are standard warnings as per EN 166:
9 Material which may come into contact with the wearer’s skin could cause allergic reactions to susceptible individuals. Manufacturer
carefully selects the materials and is not aware of any allergic reaction so far.
8 This product protects against high speed particles. When worn over standard ophthalmic spectacles, they may transmit impacts, thus
creating a hazard to the wearer.
2.1. FIELD OF APPLICATION
This product, together with additional PPE appropriate for the level of protection, permits the user to work at live parts or remain in
the vicinity of live parts. This Arc Shield only provides safety, if used as intended. DO NOT use this product for electric arc welding or
use / store close to arc welding work.
9 This product only provides full protection for eyes and face against the thermal and mechanical hazards of an arc ash when it is
completely assembled with all components and is worn together with additional PPE appropriate for the level of protection.
2.2. HAZARDS ASSESSMENT
9 In order to select appropriate eye and face protecting devices, a hazard and risk analysis shall be carried out by well-trained experts
and the eye, face and/or head protector must never be used in environments with a higher risk rating than the protection rating
indicated on the marking.
9 According to this Hazard Risk Assessment, the product be combined with further arc ash protective PPE such as helmets,
garments, gloves, etc. Inappropriate usage, e.g. at higher arc exposures, may cause severe damages to the life and health
of the user.
9 Failure to follow these instructions can result in a permanent impairment of sight or other serious personal injury.

5. FITTING
5.1. Place on head and tighten ratchet on back of strap to t head radius. Shorten/expand as required.
5.2. Adjust top strap to correct position.
5.3. Pull visor down and tighten side knobs to ensure visor will stay in up position.
6. INSTRUCTIONS
6.1. This product only provides full protection for eyes and face against the thermal and mechanical hazards of an arc ash when it is
completely assembled with all components AND is worn together with additional PPE appropriate for the level of protection.
6.2. The visor of the product must be in the deployed position when working at live parts or in the vicinity of live parts (live working).
Ensure that the gap to your neck is minimized. For 360° protection add a hood or balaclava.
6.3. The product can be xed in any position, if the pivot screws are su󰀩ciently tightened. For live working the Arc Shield must always be
in the deployed position.
6.4. The best protection is achieved with helmets allowing a very close position of the shield to the face. Nevertheless make sure that
your nose is kept clear from the inner shield surface.
6.5. This product provides the maximum light transmittance and improved colour recognition. Under regular working conditions additional
lighting may not be required. Nevertheless check your colour recognition before using this product under your particular working
conditions.
NOTE: Articial illumination, especially illumination coming from uorescent or LED lamps may interfere with the tinting of the eye
protector and further reduce the colour recognition capabilities. Make sure that you are able to precisely distinguish between all
cables coding used at your workplace under real illumination conditions.
6.6. Check your colour recognition before starting your work by performing the following procedure:
1. Collect pieces of cable with the same cable coding used at your workplace;
2. Make sure, that you are in a safe area with an illumination (type and intensity) as at your workplace;
3. Clean your eye protector and inspect it for damage (don’t hesitate to replace the eye protector lens, if necessary - read the user
instructions);
4. Put the eye protector on as per user instructions;
5. Quickly sort the cable pieces.
If you are encountering some coding di󰀨erentiation problems or a check of the sorting result shows sorting failures the illumination is
too bad and/or the eye protector is too dark. In this case and work may cause an accident, such as an arc ash.
NOTE: This product is designed to protect eyes and face against the mechanical and thermal hazards of an arc ash, IF the product
and further PPE are selected in accordance to the workplace related hazards and risks. However, it does not substitute prescription
glasses, other eye & face PPE, respirator masks or further PPE required for su󰀩cient protection at a particular workplace.
In some countries or companies the usage of face shields is only permitted in combination with safety glasses.
In some countries or companies the usage of protective helmets is mandatory.
If personal spectacle with prescription lenses are used, be aware that the visor in front of a prescription lenses may be deformed due
to a mechanical impact.
7. STORAGE
7.1. For best results store the product in its original packaging. Other packing materials contain solvents which may decrease the level of
protection.
7.2. Store the product out of sunlight in a clean, dry environment. The storage temperature shall be between 0°C and 35°C and the
operating temperature -10°C and 45°C.
8 DO NOT expose the product to any arc welding operation.
8. MAINTENANCE
8.1. If the visor will not remain in the stowed position, retighten the pivot screws at the sides.
8.2. The visor must be replaced if:
• the product is scratched or damaged
• the product has been exposed to an arc ash
• the product has been exposed to chemicals
• the product is damaged by mechanical impact
• the product has reached its normal life span (Obsolescence Section).
• the product has been exposed to high heat or over exposed to sun light
• the product has been exposed to re for long periods of time *
*Damage may not be visible to the end user.
ATTENTION: The protection for eyes and face against the thermal and mechanical hazards of an arc ash can only be provided by
using original Sealey shields with original bracket assemblies.
8.3. FITTING NEW VISOR LENS
Disassembling the product shall be performed as follows:
1. Unlock the cam locks at the on head gear
2. Remove the visor
To assemble a new visor onto the head gear, t the upper slots in the shield over the cam locks and turn the cam locks into a vertical
position for a secure t.

ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. All tools, accessories and packaging should be sorted,
taken to a recycling centre and disposed of in a manner which is compatible with the environment. When the product
becomes completely unserviceable and requires disposal, drain any fluids (if applicable) into approved containers and
dispose of the product and fluids according to local regulations.

8.4. CLEANING
8.4.1. Inspect after each use.
8.4.2. As long as the structure of the facial screen, and the screen itself, are in good condition (no major cracks or scratches, it should be
cleaned with water and neutral soap and wiped dry.
9. END OF LIFE/ OBSOLESCENCE
Inspect and replace any damaged or worn components. Never re-use the product if it has been in an arc ash incident.
It is not possible to re-test the screen with an electric arc as this is a destructive test.
The only thing that can be done is periodic visual inspection, which you can set up in your company* depending on the conditions in
which the face screen is used.
The normal life span of the visor is 5 years. Nevertheless, the product may su󰀨er from UV radiation, contact with oil and grease
scratches and mechanical impacts like all plastic products.
*For reasons of safety the user is requested to track the time of use to consider a safe time for replacement.
