Usingthe gas surface burners.
Throughout this manual, features and appearance may vary from your model.
Before Lighting a Gas Burner
_( Ifdrip pans are suppliedwith your range,
they should be usedat all times.
I:_Hake sure all burners are inplace.
_!_Hake sure all grates on the range are
properly placed before using any burner.
After Lighting a Gas Burner
i_iDonot operate the burner for an extended
period of time without cookware on the
grate. Thefinish on the grate may chip
without cookware to absorbthe heat.
_1!Besurethe burners and grates are cool
before you place your hand, a pot holder,
cleaning cloths or other materials on them.
Push the control knob in and turn
it to the LITE position (on electric
ignition modelg or H! (on standing
pilot models)
How to Light a Gas Surface Burner
Hake sureall the surface burners are placed
in their respectivepositions.
Electric Ignition Models:
Pushthe control knob in and turn it
to the LITE position.
Youwill hear a little clickingnoise-
the sound of the electricspark igniting
the burner.
Turnthe knobto adjust the flame size.
If the knob stays at LITE,it will continue
to click.
When one burner is turned to LITE,
all the burnersspark. Donot attempt to
disassembleor clean around any burner
while another burner ison.An electric shock
may result,which could cause you to knock
over hot cookware.
Standing Pilot Models:
Pushcontrol knob in and turn itto HI position.
Theburner should lightwithin a few seconds.
Turn the knob to adjust the flame size.
Flamewill be almost horizontal and will
lift slightly away from the burner when
the burner isfirst turned on.A blowing
or hissingsound may be heard for
30-60 seconds.Thisnormal sound isdue
to improved injection of gas and air into
the burner.Puta pan on the burner before
lighting it, or adjust the flame to match pan
sizeassoon as it lights,and the blowing or
hissing soundwill be much lessnoticeable.
Onsome models
On Ranges with Sealed Gas Burners
Thesmallest burner in the right rear position
isthe simmer burner.This burner can be
turned down to a very low simmer setting.
It provides precise cooking performance for
delicate foods such as saucesor foods that
require low heatfor a long cooking time.
Themedium (left rear and left front)
and the large (rightfront) burners are the
primary burners for most cooking.These
general-purpose burners can be turned down
from Ht to LOto suit a wide range of cooking
needs.
