Clean the outer and inner surfaces of the cutting deck and the cutting deck
covers.

Do a check of and adjust the cutting height and pitch setting. O O
Examine the blades in the cutting deck, sharp and balance if needed. O

Do a check of and adjust the engine RPM. O O
Make sure that the product does not move in neutral position. O O
Do a check of the forward drive and the rearward drive on different speeds. O O
Do a check of the blade engagement, seat, lift and forward drive/brake. Refer to
Safety devices on the product on page 90

Do an inspection of the collection system (if applicable). O O
To clean the product
CAUTION: Do not use a high-pressure
washer or a steam cleaner. Water can go
into bearings and electrical connections and
cause corrosion which causes damage to
the product.
Clean the product immediately after use.
• Do not clean hot surfaces such as the engine,
muffler and exhaust system. Wait until the surfaces
are cool, then remove the grass or dirt.
• Before you clean with water, clean with a brush.
Remove grass cuttings and dirt on and around the
transmission, the transmission air intake, and the
engine.
• Use running water from a hose to clean the product.
Do not use high pressure.
• Do not point the water at electrical components or
bearings. Detergent usually increases the damage.
• To clean the cutting deck, put it in the servicing
position and clean it with a water hose.
