3.1.1 VENTILATION OPENINGS
It is recommended to provide air circulation within the enclosure by installing ventilation grilles (minimum
openings of 40 sq. inches (0.03 sq. meters) at both floor and ceiling levels of the enclosure. These grilles must
not restrict the flow of heat by more than 25%. Do not install into any area having a height less than 8 ft (2.4m)
(ceiling of enclosure to appliance bottom, excluding hearth height).
DIP
LOOP
OR
Insulating the intake liner is recommended in colder climates to prevent condensation from occurring.
It is recommended that a dip or loop is put into the duct creating a cold air trap in order to prevent cold air
from flowing into the room when the appliance is not being operated (see illustration below).
The NZ7000 and NZ8000 take outside air directly into the appliance through the opening on the left side.
The fresh air inlet duct and hood must be installed lower than the firebox. Secure and seal the intake liner to
the collar using 3 sheet metal screws, and high temperature sealant.
The duct inlet must be located so they
cannot be blocked (i.e. snowdrifts). 12"
(30.5cm) above grade is recommended.
Make a 4 ½" (114mm) inch hole to suit in
an outside wall of the house. From outside,
place the fresh air hood into the hole, open
side down. Seal with caulking and secure.
