Solutions to Common Problems
Automatic Ice Maker (cont’d)
Problem Cause Correction
Ice cubes
are freezing
together.
• Ice cubes are not being
used frequently enough
or interruption of power
for prolonged time.
• Ice cubes are hollow
(shells of ice with water
inside). The hollow
cubes break open in
the bin and leak their
water onto existing
ice, which causes it to
freeze together.
• Remove ice container and discard ice.
The ice maker will produce fresh supply.
Ice should be used at least twice weekly
to keep the cubes separated.
• This generally occurs when the ice
maker does not get enough water. This
is usually the result of a clogged water
filter or restricted water supply. Replace
the water filter and if the condition still
occurs check for a Saddle Valve, water
valve not turned on all the way or kinked
water supply line.
Dispenser (Ice & Water)
Problem Cause Correction
Dispenser
will not
dispense ice.
• Dispenser lock out is
engaged.
• Water supply is not
connected.
• Ice storage bin is
empty.
• Household water line
valve is not open.
• Fresh Food door is not
closed.
• Ice dispensing paddle
has been held in for more
than four to five minutes.
• Press and hold control lock for three
seconds.
• Connect water supply. See Connecting
The Water Supply section.
• Ensure ice maker is turned on. When the
first supply of ice is dropped into the bin,
the dispenser should operate.
• Open household water line valve. Allow
sufficient time for the ice to be made. When
ice is made, the dispenser should operate.
• Ensure Fresh Food door is closed. See
Problem Section, Opening/Closing of
Doors/Drawers.
• Motor is overloaded. Motor overload
protector will reset in approximately three
minutes. Ice can then be dispensed.
Ice
dispenser is
jammed.
• Ice has melted and
frozen around auger
due to infrequent use,
temperature fluctuations,
and/or power outages.
• Ice cubes are frozen
together.
• Ice cubes are smaller
than normal.
• Remove ice bin, thaw, and empty the
contents. Clean bin, wipe dry, and
replace in proper position. When new ice
is made, dispenser should operate.
• Use the dispenser often so that cubes
do not freeze together.
• The ice & water filter cartridge could be
clogged. Replace the filter cartridge.
Dispensing system operates best at
30-100 psi water pressure. Well water
pressures should fall within this range.
Dispenser
will not
dispense
water.
• Dispenser lock out is
engaged.
• Water filter not seated
properly.
• Water filter is clogged.
• Household water line
valve is not open.
• Press and hold control lock for three
seconds.
• Remove and reinstall the water filter. Be
sure to push the filter firmly so that you
hear it lock solidly into position.
• Replace filter cartridge. Be sure to
remove protective caps and push the
filter firmly so that you hear it lock solidly
into position.
