6. Stability of Drill Press
If there ts any tendency of the drill press to tilt or
move during any use, bolt It to the floor or a flat
piece of V2" exterior plywood large enough to
stabilize the drill press. Bolt the plywood to the
unders=de of the Base. so it extends at least to
both s_des. Make sure the plywood won't trip the
operator. Do not use pressed wood panels--
they can break unexpectedly.
If the workpiece is too large to easily support with
one hand, prov=de an auxiliary support.
7. Location
Use the drill press in a well lit area and on a level
surface clean and smooth enough to reduce the
nsk of trips, slips, or falls. Use it where neither the
operator nor a casual observer is forced to stand
in line with a potential kickback.
8. Kickback
A kickback occurs when the workpiece is suddenly
thrown in the OPPOSITE direction to the DIREC-
TION OF FEED: THIS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS IN-
JURY. Kickbacks are most commonly caused by
use of accessories NOT recommended for this tool.
