Check V=Belts
Followinstructionsbelowto checkconditionof drivebelts every50
hoursof operation.
1. Removetheplasticbelt coveron the front of the engineby
removingthe self-tappingscrewand pressingthe plastictabsto
releasethe beltcover.
2. Visuallyinspectfor frayed,cracked,or excessivelyworn outbelts.
Replace,if necessary,andfollowinstructionsbelow.
Replacing Belts
NOTE:Therearetwobelts on thissnowthrower:an augerbelt and
drivebelt.it isrecommendedthatboth beltsbereplacedat the same
time.
1. Removethespark plug wirefrom spark plugand grounditagainst
the engineto preventaccidentalstarting.
2. Runthe engineuntilthe fuel tank isdry to preventgasolineleakage
whenreplacingbelts.
Performbelt maintenanceoutdoorsas somegas may possiblyleak
fromthe carburetor.
3. Removetheself-tappingscrewshownin Figure17,and pressthe
plastictabsto releasethe beltcover.Pullthe belt coverup and out
fromaroundthe engineandchute assembly.Set it asideandsave.

iMPORTANT:Becausegas could leakfromthe carburetorwhen
servicingaugerbelt,run the engineuntilthe fuel tank isdry, as previ-
ouslyinstructedin ReplacingBelts.
1. Tip the snowthrowerup and forwardso that it restsonthe auger
housing. Removethe beltkeeperas calledout inFigure19.Return
the snowthrowerto itsuprightpositionto completethe following
steps.
2. Slipthe frontaugerbelt off of theengine pulley,pushingit forward
and rollinginoff of the pulley.See Figure18.

Squeezethe augercontrolhandleto releasetheaugerbrake,
whichisthe tab that holdsthe beltonto theauger pulley.Remove
the belt.
4. Replacewithnew beltafterreplacingthedrive belt.
