Recoil Starter & Starter Handle
Thismotoris fittedwitha recoilactionpull start and
a mittengrip handlefor easyaccesswhile wearingglovesor mittens.
Key
The keyis a safetydevice.It mustbe fully inserted
inorder for the engineto start.Removethe key
whenthe snowthroweris not in use.
NOTE:Do notturn the keyinanattemptto start
theengine.Doingso maycauseit to break.
Electric Starter Button
Pressingthe electricstarterbuttonengagesthe engine'selectric
starterwhenpluggedintoa 120Vpowersource.
Clean=Out Tool
Neveruseyour handsto clear acloggedchuteassembly.Shutoff
engineandremainbehindhandlesuntilall movingpartshavestopped
beforeusingthe clean-outtoolto clear thechute assembly.
The chuteclean-outtool is convenientlyfastenedto the rearof the
augerhousingwith a mountingclip.Shouldsnowandice become
I j _ lodgedinthe chuteassemblyduringoperation,proceedas followsto

safelycleanthe chuteassemblyand chuteopening:
1. Releaseboththe AugerControland the DriveControl.
2. Stopthe engine by removingthe key.
3. Removethe clean-outtool fromtheclip whichsecuresit to the
rearof the augerhousing.
4. Usethe shovel-shapedendof the clean-outtool to dislodgeand
scoopany snowand ice whichhas formedin and nearthe chute
(_ assembly.
| 5. Refastenthe clean-outtoolto the mountingclipon the rearof
the augerhousing,reinsertthe key and startthe snowthrower's
engine.
0 6. Whilestandingin the operator'sposition(behindthe snow
thrower),engagethe augercontrolfor a fewsecondsto clearany
remainingsnowand icefromthe chuteassembly.
Before Starting Engine
Electric Starter Outlet
Requiresthe useof a three-prongoutdoorextensioncord(included)
anda 120Vpowersource/walloutlet.
Primer
Pressingthe primerforcesfuel directlyinto
engine'scarburetorto aid incold-weatherstarting.
Referto the startinginstructionsin the Operation
sectionof this manualfor properprimerusage.The
imageto the rightcorrespondswith the labelon the
engineidentifyingthe primer.
Oil Fill
Removeoil cap to addoil. Referto the Maintenance& Servicesection
for checkingandaddingoil instructions.
Gasoline Cap
Removegas cap to add fuel. Unit runson regulargas.
NOTE:Thisunit mayincludea fuel plug,whichis only usedduring
assemblyto keepdirt anddebrisout of fuel tank. Discardthefuel plug
beforefillingthe fuel tank.
Throttle Control
Read,understand,and follow all instructionsand warningsonthe
machineandinthis manualbeforeoperating.
Check Engine Oil
The unitwasshippedwithoil in the engine.Checkoil levelbeforeeach
operationto ensureadequateoil inthe engine.Forfurther instructions,
referto the Maintenance& Servicesectionof this manual.
NOTE: Besureto checkthe engineona levelsurfacewiththeengine
stopped.
1. Removethe oilfiller cap/dipstickandwipe thedipstickclean.
2. Insertthe cap/dipstickintothe oil fillerneck,turnthe cap 1/4turn
until fullyseated.

NOTE: Onsomeengines,a threadedcap/dipstickmayexist
insteadof a 1/4turncap as describedabove.In this instancedo
not fullytightenthe cap tocheckthe oil level.Simplyrestthe cap
on thethreadsto checkfor properoil level.
Removethe oil filler cap/dipstick.If thelevelis low,slowlyadd
oil (5W-30,witha minimumclassificationof SF/SG)untiloil level
registersbetweenhigh(H) andlow (L).
NOTE: Donot overfill.Overfillingwithoil may resultin engine smoking,
hardstartingor sparkplugfouling.
4. Replaceand tightencap/dipstickfirmlybeforestartingengine.
Thethrottlecontrolis locatedon theengine.It regulatesthe speedof
theengineand will shutoff the enginewhenplacedinthe Stop0
position.
