sparkplugseatsto compressthe washer.Whenreinstallinga used

Replacing the Shave Plate and
Skid Shoes
The shaveplateand skidshoesonthe bottomof the snowthrowerare
subjectto wear.Theseshouldbe checkedperiodicallyand replaced
whennecessary
1. Toreplace,removetwocarriageboltsandnutssecuringeachskidshoe
totheaugerhousing.SeeFigure15.

Lubrication
Fora viewof the lubricationpointsonthe snowthrower,see Figure16.
1. Lubricatepivotpoints on the augercontrolanddrivecontrolwitha
light engineoilonce a season.
2. Lubricatetheaugeridlerbracketwitha lightengineoilonceaseason.

Listedbeloware general recommendationsaboutmaintainingyour
snowthrowerengine.
1. Beforeoperatingsnowthrower,checkthe oil level.
2. Changeengine oil after first five hoursof operationandevery 50
hoursthereafter.
3. Cleanspark plug and resetthe electrodegap to 0.030"at least
once a seasonor every 100hoursof operation;replaceevery200
hoursof operation.

Reassemblenewskidshoeswithhardwarejustremoved.Makesurethe
skidshoesareadjustedtobe level.
Toremoveshaveplate:Removebothskidshoesand hardware
includingcarriageboltsandnutswhichattachshaveplatetothe
snowthrowerhousing.Forlocationof shaveplate,see Figure15.
Reassemblenewshaveplate,makingsureheadsof thecarriagebolts
areto theinsideof thehousing.Reinstallskidshoes.Tightensecurely.
Servicing Auger
Theaugeris securedto the spiralshaftwith fourshearpinsand cotter
pins.If you hit a foreignobjectorice jam,the snowthroweris designed
so thatthe pinsmay shear.Referto Figure15.
Ifthe auger doesnot turn,check if the pinshavesheared.Replace,if
needed,with propershearpins. Referto the Parts List in this manual
for thecorrectpart number.
IMPORTANT:NEVERreplacetheauger shearpinswith standardpins
orfasteners.Anydamageto the auger gearboxor othercomponents,
as a resultof doingso,will NOTbe coveredby yoursnowthrower's
warranty.
