upto 10%ethanolor 15%MTBE(MethylTertiaryButylEther)can be
used.Neveruse anoil/gasolinemixtureor dirtygasoline.Avoidgetting
dirt,dust,or waterinthe fueltank. DONOTuse E85gasoline.
Refuelina well-ventilatedareawiththe enginestopped.Donot

Starting The Engine
Determinethatyour home'swiringisa three-wiregroundedsystem.
Aska licensedelectricianifyouare notcertain.
Ifyou havea groundedthree-prongreceptacle,proceedas follows.
Ifyou do not havethe properhousewiring, DO NOTusethe electric
starterunderanyconditions.
1. Plugthe extensioncord intothe outletlocatedonthe engine's
surface.Plugtheother end of extensioncord intoa three-prong
120-volt,grounded,ACoutlet in a well-ventilatedarea.
2. Movethrottlecontrolto FAST(rabbit),_ position.
3. Movechoke controlto the CHOKEposition I,,"1(co dengine
start).If engineis warm,placechokecontrol in RUNposition.
4. Pushprimerthree(3) times,makingsureto cover vent holewhen
pushing.If engineis warm,pushprimeronly once.Alwayscover
venthole whenpushing.Coolweathermay requireprimingto be
repeated.
5. Pushand hold starterbuttondownto startengine.Oncethe

slowlyrotatethe chokeintoRUNposition.
7. Afterengineis running,disconnectpowercord fromelectric
starter.Whendisconnecting,alwaysunplugtheend at the wall
outletbeforeunpluggingthe oppositeend fromthe engine.
Recoil Starter
Alwayskeephandsand feetclearof movingparts.Do not usea
pressurizedstartingfluid. Vaporsare flammable.
NOTE: Forlocationof allthe enginecontrolsreferredto inthis section,
referto Figure9 on page 12.
NOTE:Allowtheengineto warmup for a fewminutesafterstarting.

Electric Starter
Theoptionalelectricstarterisequippedwitha groundedthree-wire
powercord andplug, and isdesignedto operateon 120volt AC
householdcurrent.It mustbeusedwith a properlygroundedthree-
prongreceptacleat all timesto avoidthe possibilityof electricshock.
Followallinstructionscarefullypriorto operatingthe electricstarter.
DO NOTuseelectricstarterinthe rain.
Donot pullthe starterhandlewhile theenginerunning.
