Use Guide
Before First Use
Perform a cleaning cycle to prepare the machine:
- Ensure the machine is unplugged.
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh water up to the 14oz mark.
- Do not place a K-Cup or ground coffee in the holder.
- Place a large mug (at least 14oz) under the drip stop.
- Plug in the machine and press the Power button to turn it on.
- Press the Brew button. Allow the full cycle to run, dispensing hot water into the mug.
- Discard the water. The machine is now ready for use.
Brewing Hot Coffee
- Add Water: Lift the top lid. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water to your desired ounce level (6oz to 14oz).
- Add Coffee:
- For a K-Cup: Place a compatible K-Cup pod into the pod holder.
- For Ground Coffee: Place the reusable filter into the holder. Add one tablespoon of ground coffee per 6oz of water, or to taste.
- Prepare Machine: Close the lid securely. Place your cup (under 6" tall) under the drip stop.
- Start Brew: Press the Power button. Wait for the Ready light to illuminate. Press the Brew button to start the hot coffee cycle. Brewing takes approximately 1.5 minutes for 6oz and up to 3.5 minutes for 14oz.
- Completion: The machine will automatically shut off when the cycle is complete. The brewed coffee temperature is approximately 175°F.
Brewing Iced Coffee (OVER ICE Function)
The "OVER ICE" function starts with a hotter brew temperature for full flavor extraction, then cools the output for less ice melt. The final coffee temperature is 48-54°F lower than the hot brew output.
- Prepare Your Cup: Fill your cup with ice to your desired level. Refer to the included Recipe Book for recommended water-to-ice-to-coffee ratios.
- Add Water: Fill the water reservoir with fresh water. The amount of water should account for the ice in your cup (e.g., for a full 14oz drink, you may use less water).
- Add Coffee: Insert a K-Cup or ground coffee as described in the Hot Coffee section.
- Select Mode: Ensure the machine is in "OVER ICE" mode (this may be selected by a separate button press or indicated by a light). Consult your model's indicator.
- Start Brew: Place your ice-filled cup under the drip stop. Press the Brew button. The hot coffee will brew directly over the ice, chilling and diluting it to create iced coffee.
Brew Size Adjustment
This machine does not have digital brew size settings. The brew amount is determined by the volume of water you add to the reservoir. Fill to the appropriate ounce level marking for your desired cup size (6, 8, 10, 12, or 14 oz).
Cleaning and Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
- Unplug the machine and allow it to cool.
- Remove the pod holder and reusable filter (if used).
- Rinse all detachable parts with warm water. They are dishwasher-safe (top rack recommended).
- Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Empty and rinse the water reservoir. Do not submerge the main unit.
Self-Cleaning Function & Descaling
Self-Cleaning: Run a water-only brew cycle (as in "Before First Use") periodically to flush the internal system.
Descaling: Mineral deposits from water can build up. The machine has a descaling reminder.
- When prompted, or every 1-3 months, prepare a descaling solution as per the descaler manufacturer's instructions (vinegar is not recommended).
- Fill the reservoir with the descaling solution.
- Run a brew cycle without coffee into a large container.
- Discard the solution. Refill the reservoir with fresh water and run 2-3 additional brew cycles to rinse the system thoroughly.
