CONVERSION
CONVERTING APPLIANCE FOR USE WITH LP GAS
A conversion kit is provided with the cooktop which contains the necessary pieces to change
the cooktop from NG to LP fuel. We encourage you to keep the kit with this manual so that
it’s available in case of need. Also, if the unit is converted to LP, the parts removed in the
conversion process should be saved in case the unit needs to be converted back to NG.
Conversion is to be performed by an AUTHORIZED SERVICER (or other qualified agent)
in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and all codes and requirements of the
authority having jurisdiction. Failure to follow instructions could result in serious injury or
property damage. The qualified agent performing this work assumes responsibility for this
conversion.
Electrical power and gas must be turned off prior to conversion.
REQUIREMENTS
If this appliance should be converted for use with LP gas (propane or butane), the regulator
must be converted and the orifices in all five burners must be changed:
• After conversion, the appliance must be labeled to show its new fuel requirement.
Note: The outer burners are different between the KGC 30 and the KGC 36. Be sure you
follow steps for the correct unit.
REPLACING ORIFICE ON SINGLE RING BURNER (KGC 30 ONLY) .
1) Remove the grates and burner caps.
2) Remove gas spreader.
3) Loosen orifice by turning 9/32” nut driver counter-clockwise.
4) Install the orifice supplied with this appliance
in the appropriate burner. Each orifice has a
number stamped on the side, which identifies
the orifice diameter.
5) Turn clockwise to tighten. Tighten to a
torque of 15 to 20 inch-lbs. [1.7-2.3 N-m].
6) Replace all parts following the reverse order.
7) Save the orifices removed from the appliance
for future use.
