Kwikset 99390-002 Questions and Answers

How does this work in different weather? Can this be used on a door that does not have any covering, where it will be exposed to sun and rain?
I have a storm door in addition to my main door so I can’t say for sure how it is affected by direct weather. However, I am very pleased with it’s performance in my situation.

Can anyone tell me where in the app that it shows the battery level?
It’s a percentage in the upper right hand corner of the home screen of my app.

How fragile is the screen? Can it be damaged easily by hot sun or vandalism?
I have a different Kwikset lock but it has the same keypad. It can be damaged. I noticed small scratches on mine one day. A few weeks later, more scratches, some very deep. I couldn’t figure out how it was getting scratched, and it was getting harder to read.

Does this work with Echo Plus or does it need a special hub?
It doesn’t need a special hub. You can set it up as a skill with Alexa. There is a passcode you have to set as a security feature. Wouldn’t want anyone saying “Alexa, unlock the door” and your door unlocking. You have to say Alexa unlock the door and then state the passcode.

Can this be programmed to lock each night at a certain time?
No. The only auto lock option is to lock after a certain time from the lock cycling. 10 minutes is the maximum delay.

Can you lock the door on the app while not at home?
Yes, the app will show you if your door is locked or unlocked, and with a touch, you can lock or unlock your door.

Is there an internet speed requirement for the lock?
Not that I know of from your internet service provider. That said, like many Wifi smart devices this lock only works on the 2.4Ghz band of your router

Will this lock work with both 2.4 and 5G WiFi?
It has to be set up on 2.4. I have a router/modem that has both bands. It’s important to set it up on the 2.4 network.
