Program AE
Like < > (Full Auto) mode, this is a general-purpose
shooting mode. The camera automatically sets the
shutter speed and aperture value to suit the scene’s
brightness. This is called Program AE.

AE stands for Auto Exposure
Set the Mode Dial to < >.

Focus the subject.
Look through the viewfinder and aim any AF point
over the subject. Then press the shutter button
halfway.

The AF point that achieves focus will flash briefly. At
the same time, the beeper will sound and the focus
confirmation light <
> in the viewfinder will light.

The exposure setting will be displayed in the
viewfinder and on the LCD panel.
If the focus confirmation light <
> in the viewfinder
blinks, it means focus has not been achieved. See
“When Autofocus Fails” (p.71).
The number “ ” - “ ” displayed to the left of the
focus confirmation light <
> indicates the maxi-
mum burst for continuous shooting.
When the CF card is almost full and only nine or
fewer shots can be taken, “
” to ” will be
displayed to indicate the remaining number of
shots.

Shoot.
Compose the shot and check that the exposure
setting is not blinking. Then press the shutter button
fully to shoot.

The captured image will be displayed for 2 sec. on
the LCD monitor.
