chirp
A chirp is a small Garmin accessory that is programmed and left
in a geocache. You can use your device to find a chirp in a
geocache.
Enabling chirp Searching

Select Setup > Geocaching.

Select chirp Searching > On.
Finding a Geocache with a chirp

With chirp searching enabled, navigate to a geocache.
When you are within approximately 10 m (33 ft.) of the
geocache that contains a chirp, details about the chirp
appear.

Select Show Details.

If necessary, select Go to navigate to the next stage of the
geocache.
Removing Live Geocache Data from the Device
You can remove live geocache data to show only geocaches
manually loaded on the device using a computer.
Select Setup > Geocaching > Geocaching Live > Remove
Live Data.
Live geocaching data is removed from the device and no
longer appears in the geocache list.
Removing Your Device Registration From
Geocaching.com
If you transfer ownership of your device, you can remove your
device registration from the geocaching website.
Select Setup > Geocaching > Geocaching Live >
Unregister Device.
Using the inReach Remote
The inReach remote function allows you to control a compatible
inReach device using your Montana 700 device.

Turn on the inReach device.

On your Montana 700 device, select inReach Remote.
NOTE: You may need to add this application to the main
menu before you can select it (Customizing the Main Menu,
page 14).

If necessary, select Yes.

Wait while the Montana 700 device connects to your inReach
device.

To send a preset message, select Send Preset, and
select a message from the list.
To send a text message, select New Message, select the
message contacts, and enter the message text or select a
quick text option.
To send an SOS message, select > Yes.
NOTE: You should only use the SOS function in a real
emergency situation.
To view the timer and distance traveled, select .
Marking and Starting Navigation to a Man
Overboard Location
Before you can save a man overboard (MOB) location and
navigate back to it, you must add the Man Overboard application
to the main menu (Customizing the Main Menu, page 14).

Select Man Overboard > Start.
The map opens, showing the route to the MOB location. By
default, the route appears as a magenta line.

compass (Navigating with the Compass, page 5).

Proximity alarms alert you when you are within a specified range
of a particular location.

Setting the Proximity Alarm Tones

Disabling All Proximity Alarms
Select Proximity Alarms > > Disable All Alarms.
Satellite Page
The satellite page shows your current location, GPS accuracy,
satellite locations, and signal strength.
GPS Satellite Settings
Select Satellite > .
Use With GPS On: Allows you to turn the GPS on.
Track Up: Indicates whether satellites are shown with their rings
oriented with north toward the top of the screen, or oriented
with your current track toward the top of the screen.
Single Color: Allows you to select whether the satellite page is
displayed in multicolor or single color format.
Set Location On Map: Allows you to mark your current location
on the map. You can use this location to create routes or
search for saved locations.
