InialLighng:Whenlitfortherstme,thegasgrillemitsaslightodor.Thisisanormaltemporary
condioncausedbythe“burn-in”ofinternalpaintsandlubricantsusedinthemanufacturingprocessand
does not occur again. Simply run the main burners on high for approximately one-half hour.
MainBurnerUse:Whensearingfoods,werecommendpreheangthegrillbyoperangallmainburners
inthehighposionwiththelidclosedforapproximately10minutes.Foodcookedforshortperiodsof
me(sh,vegetables)canbegrilledwiththelidopen.Cookingwiththelidclosedwillensurehigher,more
eventemperaturesthatcanreducecookingmeandcookmeatmoreevenly.Foodthathasacooking
melongerthan30minutes,suchasroasts,canbecookedindirectly(withtheburnerlitoppositetothe
foodplacement).Whencookingveryleanmeats,suchaschickenbreastsorleanpork,thegridscanbe
oiledbeforepre-heangtoreducescking.Cookingmeatwithahighdegreeoffatcontentcancreate
are-ups.Eithertrimthefatorreducetemperaturestoinhibitthis.Shouldaare-upoccur,movefood

CleaningInstrucons
Note:Stainlesssteeltendstooxidizeorstaininthepresenceofchloridesandsuldes,parcularlyin
coastal areas and other harsh environments, such as the warm, highly humid atmosphere around pools
and hot tubs. These stains could be perceived as rust, but can be easily removed or prevented. To provide
stainprevenonandremoval,washallstainlesssteelandchromesurfacesevery3-4weeksorasoenas
requiredwithfreshwaterand/orstainlesssteelcleaner.
CleaningInsideTheGasGrill: Remove the cooking grids. Use a brass wire brush to clean loose debris
fromcasngsidesandunderneaththelid.Brushalldebrisfrominsidethegasgrillintotheremovable
drip pan.

Toavoidthepossibilityofburns,maintenanceshouldbedoneonlywhenthegrillis

areawherecleaningsoluonswillnotharmdecks,lawns,orpaos.Donotuseovencleanertoclean
anypartofthisgasgrill.Donotuseaself-cleaningoventocleancookinggridsoranyotherpartsof
thegasgrill.Barbecuesauceandsaltcanbecorrosiveandwillcauserapiddeterioraonofthegasgrill
componentsunlesscleanedregularly.
CastIronCookingGrids:Thecastironcookinggridssuppliedwithyournewgrilloersuperiorheatreten-
onanddistribuon.Byregularlyseasoningyourgridsyouareaddingaprotecvecoang,whichwillaid
inresisngcorrosionandincreaseyourgridsnon-sckcapabilies.
FirstTimeUse: Wash the cooking grids by hand with mild dish soap and water to remove any residue
fromthemanufacturingprocess(neverwashinadishwasher).Rinsethoroughlywithhotwateranddry
completelywithasocloth.Thisisimportanttoavoidmoisturefromenteringthecastiron.
Seasoning:Usingasocloth,spreadVEGETABLESHORTENINGwithahighsmokepointovertheenre
gridsurfaceensuringallgroovesandcornersarecovered.Sunower,avocadoorcanolaoilisrecom-
mended.Donotusesaltedfatssuchasbuerormargarine.Pre-heatyourgrillto350°-400°F(176°C-
204°C).Installcoatedgridsinthegrill.Closethelidandcookfor30minutes.Applyasecondcoatofoil
onthegridsusingasiliconbrushandcookfor30minutesmore.Turnalltheburnerstothe“OFF”posi-
onandturnthegasoatthesource.Letthecookinggridsstandunlcool.Thisprocedureshouldbe
repeatedseveralmesthroughouttheseasonat3-4usesintervals.
Note: if rust has formed on the cast iron grids, clean them with a scouring pad or brass brush and repeat
theenreseasoningprocess.
DailyUsage:Beforepre-heang,andcleaningwithabrasswiregrillbrush,coattheenretopsurfaceof
thecookinggridswithVEGETABLESHORTENING.Pre-heatthegrillandthenbrushawayanyunwanted
residue with a brass wire brush.
