Using the Cooktop
CAUTION
A burner surface stays red for a long time indicating the
bottom of the pan is not flat enough or is too small for
the burner. Prolonged usage of incorrect utensils could
result in damage to the cookware, cooktop, wiring and
surrounding areas.
To prevent damage use correct utensil, start cooking on
HI” position and turn control down to continue cooking.
Never leave an empty utensil, or one which has boiled
dry, on a hot surface unit. The utensil could overheat
and damage the utensils or surface unit.
Make sure that the handles of cookware do not stick out
over the edge of the range to avoid being knocked over
by accident. This also makes it more difficult for children
to reach the cooking pots/pans.
Choosing the Right Cookware
Only use cookware with a base suitable for electric
cooking.
Cookware made from the following materials is not
suitable: aluminum or copper without a magnetic base,
glass, wood, porcelain, ceramic, and earthenware.
Do not use cookware with jagged edges or a curved base.
Make sure that the base of your pan is smooth, sits flat
against the glass. (Fig. 16)

Use pans whose diameter is as large as the graphic of
the zone selected. A slightly larger pan covers the entire
element and prevents spillovers from contacting the heat
surface and burning in. If you use smaller pot efficiency
could be less than expected. Always center your pan on
the cooking zone. (Fig. 17)

Always lift pans off the electric hob – do not slide, or they
may scratch the glass. (Fig. 18)
