OperatingTractor
Start the engine as instructed previously.
Move throttle control to full throttle to prevent strain
on the engine and to operate attachments.
Place the shift lever in one of the two forward
positions (LOW or HIGH), or in REVERSE. Place
the speed control lever in desired position. Use
LOW speed position when operating the tractor for
the first time.
WARNING: Look to the rear of the tractor
and check for obstructions before backing up.
Depress the clutch-brake pedal to release the
parking brake and put unit into motion.
Depress the clutch-brake pedal to stop the unit.
The cutting blades (or other attachment) may be
engaged while the tractor is moving or standing still.
NOTE: Do not engage the cutting blades abruptly as
the sudden belt tension on the pulley may cause the
engine to stall.
WARNING: Keep hands and feet away from
the discharge opening, the blades or any part
of the deck.
NOTE: There will be little difference between the
highest two speeds until after the belts have settled into
the pulleys after the break-in period.
Change oil in the engine crankcase after the first
five hours of operation.
Be sure that the lawn is clear of stones, sticks, wire,
or other objects which could damage tractor or
engine. For best results, do not mow when the lawn
is too wet.
NOTE: By shutting off the engine before disembarking,
you will also avoid the possibility of "browning" the
grass. (The "browning" is caused when grass is
exposed to hot exhaust gases from a running engine.)
WARNING: Before leaving the operator'sposition for any reason, disengage the blades,
place the shift lever in neutral, engage the
parking brake, shut engine off and remove key.
If unit stalls with speed control in sixth or seventh
speed, or if the unit will not operate with speed control
lever in the first or second speed position, follow
instructions below:
Place shift lever in NEUTRAL.
Restart engine.
Place speed control lever in highest speed position.
Release clutch-brake pedal fully.
Depress clutch-brake pedal.
Place speed control lever in desired position.
Place shift lever in one of the forward positions
(HIGH or LOW) or REVERSE, and follow normal
operating procedures.
High-LowTransmissionRanges
HIGH range position is for normal load conditions, such
as mowing or transporting.
LOW range position is for high load conditions requiring
more torque, such as tilling, snow removing or hauling
heavy loads.
GrassCollector
Grass Collector Model OEM-190-083 is available as
optional equipment for tractors with 46" mowing decks.
_b OTE: The mower should not be operated
without the entire grass catcher or chute
deflector in place.
NOTE: Under normal usage, grass bag material is
subject to wear, and should be checked periodically.
Use only factory authorized replacement bag.
