Installinganewoperatingsystem

Insomesituations,youmightneedtoinstallanewoperatingsystem.Thistopicprovidesinstructionson

howtoinstallanewoperatingsystem.

InstallingtheWindows7operatingsystem

Beforeyoustart,printtheseinstructions.

Attention:

•Theprocessofinstallinganewoperatingsystemdeletesallthedataonyourharddiskdriveorsolid-state

drive,includingthedatathatwerestoredinahiddenfolder.

•IfyourcomputerisequippedwithbothaharddiskdriveandanM.2solid-statedrive,donotusethe

M.2solid-statedriveasabootabledevice.TheM.2solid-statedriveisusedfor“cache”functionandto

supporttheIntelRapidStartTechnology.

ToinstalltheWindows7operatingsystem,dothefollowing:

1.CopyallthesubdirectoriesandlesintheC:\SWTOOLSdirectorytoaremovablestoragedevice.

•ThesupplementlesfortheWindows7operatingsystemareintheC:\SWTOOLS\OSFIXESdirectory.

•ThedevicedriversareintheC:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERSdirectory.

•ThepreinstalledprogramsareintheC:\SWTOOLS\APPSdirectory.

2.StarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.See“UsingtheThinkPadSetupprogram”onpage107.

3.SelectStartup➙UEFI/LegacyBoot.Thendooneofthefollowing:

•ToinstalltheWindows7(32-bit)operatingsystem,selectLegacyOnlyorBoth.

•ToinstalltheWindows7(64-bit)operatingsysteminLegacymode,selectLegacyOnly.

•ToinstalltheWindows7(64-bit)operatingsysteminUEFImode,selectUEFIOnly.

4.PresstheFn+F10keytoexittheThinkPadSetupprogram.

5.InserttheWindows7operatingsysteminstallationDVDintotheopticaldrive,andrestartthecomputer.

6.RestoretheC:\SWTOOLSdirectorythatyoubackedupbeforeinstallingtheWindows7operatingsystem.

7.Installthedevicedrivers.See“Installingdevicedrivers”onpage107.

8.InstalltheWindows7xmodules.YoucanndtheWindows7xmodulesintheC:\SWTOOLS\OSFIXES\
