Usethedeckwashto rinsegrassclippingsfromthedeck'sundersideandprevent
thebuildupof corrosivechemicals.CompletethefollowingstepsAFTEREACH
MOWING:
Pushthemowerto alevel,clearspotonyourlawn,nearenoughforyour
gardenhoseto reach.Removethe grassbagif attached.
Makecertain the mower'sdischargechuteisdirectedAWAYfrom your
house,garage,parkedcars,etc.
2. Threadthehosecoupler(packagedwithyourmower'sOperator'sManual)
ontotheendofyourgardenhose.
3. Attachthehosecouplertothewaterportonyourdeck'ssurface.SeeFigure

Turnthewateron.
Startthe engineasdescribedinthe Operationsection.
Runtheenginefor aminimumof two minutes,allowingtheundersideof the
cuttingdeckto thoroughlyrinse.
Releasebladecontrolto stoptheengineandblade.
Turnthewateroff anddetachthehosecouplerfromthe waterport onyour
deck'ssurface.
Aftercleaningyourdeck,restartthe mower.Keeptheengineandbladerunning
fora minimumof two minutes,allowingtheundersideof thecuttingdeckto
thoroughlydry.
Blade Care
Whenremoving the cutting bladefor sharpeningorreplacement,protect
your handswith apair of heavyglovesor usea heavyragto holdthe blade.
Periodicallyinspectthebladeadapterforcracks,especiallyif youstrikeaforeign
object.Replacewhennecessary.Followthestepsbelowfor bladeservice.
1. Disconnectsparkplugbootfrom sparkplug.Turnmoweronitssidemaking
surethat the airfilter andthe carburetorarefacingup.
2. Removethe bolt andthe bladebellsupportwhichholdthebladeandthe
bladeadapterto theenginecrankshaft.SeeFigure25.
3. Removebladeandadapterfromthe crankshaft.
4. Removebladefrom the adapterfor testingbalance.Balancethe bladeona
roundshaftscrewdriverto check.Removemetalfrom the heavysideuntil
it balancesevenly.Whensharpeningtheblade,followthe originalangleof
grind.Grindeachcuttingedgeequallyto keepthebladebalanced.
An unbalancedbladewill causeexcessivevibration when rotatingat high
speeds.It maycausedamageto mowerandcouldbreakcausingpersonal
injury.

with light oil.Slidethe bladeadapterontothe enginecrankshaft.Placethe
bladeon theadaptersuchthatthesideof theblademarked"Bottom"(or
with part number)facesthe groundwhen themowerisin the operating
position.Makesurethatthebladeisalignedandseatedonthebladeadapter
flanges.SeeFigure25inset.
