BELTREPLACEMENT
See Figures 49 - 50,
The saw is powered by a belt-driven motor. Periodically
check the belt for wear and replace it when necessary.
Proceed as follows when replacement is required:
[] Unplug the saw.
WARNING: Failure to unplug the saw could result in
accidental starting causing serious injury.
[] Pull saw arm all the way down and engage the lock pin
to hold the saw arm in transport position.
[] Using a phillips screwdriver, remove the screws from
the belt cover. Carefully lift the belt cover off the hous-
ing and set aside.
[] Loosen the adjustment screws.
[] Loosen the set screw on the motor housing. Push the
motor housing down until there is enough slack in the
belt for it to be removed from around the pulleys.
[] Place the new belt (grooves turned to the inside)
around the bottom pulley.
[] Push the motor housing down with one hand while
pulling the belt up and over the second pulley with the
other hand. Release the motor housing.
[] Turn the belt by hand until you are certain it is properly
aligned on the grooves of the pulleys.
[] Lift the motor housing up and retighten the set screw.
[] Check belt tension by squeezing the belt. Using light
pressure, the belt should deflect approximately 1/4 in.
NOTE: If belt tension is not correct, adjust the set
screw until tension is correct.
[] Once belt tension is correct, retighten adjustment
screws.
[] Reinstall the belt cover with the phillips screws.
