  • Page 6 - English - : Rinnai 6 Portable Room AC OIM WARNING EXPLANATION OF SYMBOLS DISPLAYED ON THE UNIT WARNINGRiskofreammablematerialIftherefrigerantisleakedtogetherwithan externalignitionsourcethereisapossibilityofignition ReadtheOPERATINGINSTRUCTIONScarefullybeforeoperation Service personnel are required to carefully read the OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS and INSTALLATIONMANUALbeforeoperation Further information is available in the OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS INSTALLATION MANUALandthelike 1 Transportofequipmentcontainingammablerefrigerants See transport regulations 2 Markingofequipmentusingsigns See local regulations 3 Disposalofequipmentusingammablerefrigerants See national regulations 4 Storageofequipmentappliances The storage of equipment should be in accordance with the manufacturers instructions 5 Storageofpackedunsoldequipment Storage package protection should be constructed such that mechanical damage to the equipment inside the package will not cause a leak of the refrigerant charge The maximum number of pieces of equipment permitted to be stored together will be determined by local regulations General work area All maintenance sta and others working in the local area shall be instructed on the nature of work being carried out Work in conned spaces shall be avoided The area around the workspace shall be sectioned o Ensure that the conditions within the area have been made safe by control of ammable material 6 Informationonservicing 1 Checks to the area Prior to beginning work on systems containing ammable refrigerants safety checks are necessary to ensure that the risk of ignition is minimised For repair to the refrigerating system the following precautions shall be complied with prior to conducting work on the system 2 Work procedure Work shall be undertaken under a controlled procedure so as to minimise the risk of a ammable gas or vapour being present while the work is being performed 3 General work area All maintenance sta and others working in the local area shall be instructed on the nature of work being carried out Work in conned spaces shall be avoided The area around the workspace shall be sectioned o Ensure that the conditions within the area have been made safe by control of ammable material 4 Checking for presence of refrigerant The area shall be checked with an appropriate refrigerant detector prior to and during work to ensure the technician is aware of potentially ammable atmospheres Ensure that the leak detection equipment being used is suitable for use with ammable refrigerants ie nonsparking adequately sealed or intrinsically safe 5 Presence of re extinguisher If any hot work is to be conducted on the refrigeration equipment or any associated parts appropriate re extinguishing equipment shall be available to hand Have a dry powder or CO re extinguisher adjacent to the charging area SAFETY amp IMPORTANT INFORMATION
  • Page 7 - English - : Rinnai 7 Portable Room AC OIM 6 No ignition sources No person carrying out work in relation to a refrigeration system which involves exposing any pipe work that contains or has contained ammable refrigerant shall use any sources of ignition in such a manner that it may lead to the risk of re or explosion All possible ignition sources including cigarette smoking should be kept suciently far away from the site of installation repairing removing and disposal during which ammable refrigerant can possibly be released to the surrounding space Prior to work taking place the area around the equipment is to be surveyed to make sure that there are no ammable hazards or ignition risks No Smoking signs shall be displayed 7 Ventilated area Ensure that the area is in the open or that it is adequately ventilated before breaking into the system or conducting any hot work A degree of ventilation shall continue during the period that the work is carried out The ventilation should safely disperse any released refrigerant and preferably expel it externally into the atmosphere 8 Checks to the refrigeration equipment Where electrical components are being changed they shall be t for the purpose and to the correct specication At all times the manufacturers maintenance and service guidelines shall be followed If in doubt consult the manufacturers technical department for assistance The following checks shall be applied to installations using ammable refrigerants The charge size is in accordance with the room size within which the refrigerant containing parts are installed The ventilation machinery and outlets are operating adequately and are not obstructed If an indirect refrigerating circuit is being used the secondary circuit shall be checked for the presence of refrigerant Marking to the equipment continues to be visible and legible Markings and signs that are illegible shall be corrected Refrigeration pipe or components are installed in a position where they are unlikely to be exposed to any substance which may corrode refrigerant containing components unless the components are constructed of materials which are inherently resistant to being corroded or are suitably protected against being so corroded 9 Checks to electrical devices Repair and maintenance to electrical components shall include initial safety checks and component inspection procedures If a fault exists that could compromise safety then no electrical supply shall be connected to the circuit until it is satisfactorily dealt with If the fault cannot be corrected immediately but it is necessary to continue operation an adequate temporary solution shall be used This shall be reported to the owner of the equipment so all parties are advised Initial safety checks shall include That capacitors are discharged this shall be done in a safe manner to avoid possibility of sparking That there no live electrical components and wiring are exposed while charging recovering or purging the system That there is continuity of earth bonding 7 Repairstosealedcomponents 1 During repairs to sealed components all electrical supplies shall be disconnected from the equipment being worked upon prior to any removal of sealed covers etc If it is absolutely necessary to have an electrical supply to equipment during servicing then a permanently operating form of leak detection shall be located at the most critical point to warn of a potentially hazardous situation 2 Particular attention shall be paid to the following to ensure that by working on electrical components the casing is not altered in such a way that the level of protection is aected This shall include damage to cables excessive number of connections terminals not made to original specication damage to seals incorrect tting of glands etc Ensure that apparatus is mounted securely Ensure that seals or sealing materials have not degraded such that they no longer serve the purpose of preventing the ingress of ammable atmospheres Replacement parts shall be in accordance with the manufacturers specications NOTE The use of silicon sealant may inhibit the eectiveness of some types of leak detection equipment Intrinsically safe components do not have to be isolated prior to working on them SAFETY amp IMPORTANT INFORMATION
  • Page 8 - English - : Rinnai 8 Portable Room AC OIM 8 Repairtointrinsicallysafecomponents Do not apply any permanent inductive or capacitance loads to the circuit without ensuring that this will not exceed the permissible voltage and current permitted for the equipment in use Intrinsically safe components are the only types that can be worked on while live in the presence of a ammable atmosphere The test apparatus shall be at the correct rating Replace components only with parts specied by the manufacturer Other parts may result in the ignition of refrigerant in the atmosphere from a leak 9 Cabling Check that cabling will not be subject to wear corrosion excessive pressure vibration sharp edges or any other adverse environmental eects The check shall also take into account the eects of aging or continual vibration from sources such as compressors or fans 10 Detectionofammablerefrigerants Under no circumstances shall potential sources of ignition be used in the searching for or detection of refrigerant leaks A halide torch or any other detector using a naked ame shall not be used 11 Leakdetectionmethods The following leak detection methods are deemed acceptable for systems containing ammable refrigerants Electronic leak detectors shall be used to detect ammable refrigerants but the sensitivity may not be adequate or may need recalibration Detection equipment shall be calibrated in a refrigerantfree area Ensure that the detector is not a potential source of ignition and is suitable for the refrigerant used Leak detection equipment shall be set at a percentage of the LFL of the refrigerant and shall be calibrated to the refrigerant employed and the appropriate percentage of gas 25 maximum is conrmed Leak detection uids are suitable for use with most refrigerants but the use of detergents containing chlorine shall be avoided as the chlorine may react with the refrigerant and corrode the copper pipework If a leak is suspected all naked ames shall be removed extinguished If a leakage of refrigerant is found which requires brazing all of the refrigerant shall be recovered from the system or isolated by means of shut o valves in a part of the system remote from the leak Oxygen free nitrogen OFN shall then be purged through the system both before and during the brazing process 12 Removalandevacuation When breaking into the refrigerant circuit to make repairs or for any other purpose conventional procedures shall be used However it is important that best practice is followed since ammability is a consideration The following procedure shall be adhered to Remove refrigerant Purge the circuit with inert gas Evacuate Purge again with inert gas Open the circuit by cutting or brazing The refrigerant charge shall be recovered into the correct recovery cylinders The system shall be ushed with OFN to render the unit safe This process may need to be repeated several times Compressed air or oxygen shall not be used for this task Flushing shall be achieved by breaking the vacuum in the system with OFN and continuing to ll until the working pressure is achieved then venting to atmosphere and nally pulling down to a vacuum This process shall be repeated until no refrigerant is within the system When the nal OFN charge is used the system shall be vented down to atmospheric pressure to enable work to take place This operation is absolutely vital if brazing operations on the pipework are to take place Ensure that the outlet for the vacuum pump is not close to any ignition sources and there is ventilation available 13 Chargingprocedures In addition to conventional charging procedures the following requirements shall be followed Ensure that contamination of dierent refrigerants does not occur when using charging equipment Hoses or lines shall be as short as possible to minimise the amount of refrigerant contained in them Cylinders shall be kept upright Ensure that the refrigeration system is earthed prior to charging the system with refrigerant Label the system when charging is complete if not already Extreme care shall be taken not to overll the refrigeration system Prior to recharging the system it shall be pressure tested with OFN The system shall be leak tested on completion of charging but prior to commissioning A follow up leak test shall be carried out prior to leaving the site SAFETY amp IMPORTANT INFORMATION
  • Page 9 - English - : Rinnai 9 Portable Room AC OIM 14 Decommissioning Before carrying out this procedure it is essential that the technician is completely familiar with the equipment and all its detail It is recommended good practice that all refrigerants are recovered safely Prior to the task being carried out an oil and refrigerant sample shall be taken in case analysis is required prior to reuse of reclaimed refrigerant It is essential that electrical power is available before the task is commenced a Become familiar with the equipment and its operation b Isolate system electrically c Before attempting the procedure ensure that Mechanical handling equipment is available if required for handling refrigerant cylinders All personal protective equipment is available and being used correctly The recovery process is supervised at all times by a competent person Recovery equipment and cylinders conform to the appropriate standards d Pump down refrigerant system if possible e If a vacuum is not possible make a manifold so that refrigerant can be removed from various parts of the system f Make sure that cylinder is situated on the scales before recovery takes place g Start the recovery machine and operate in accordance with manufacturers instructions h Do not overll cylinders No more than 80 volume liquid charge i Do not exceed the maximum working pressure of the cylinder even temporarily j When the cylinders have been lled correctly and the process completed make sure that the cylinders and the equipment are removed from site promptly and all isolation valves on the equipment are closed o k Recovered refrigerant shall not be charged into another refrigeration system unless it has been cleaned and checked 15 Labelling Equipment shall be labelled stating that it has been decommissioned and emptied of refrigerant The label shall be dated and signed Ensure that there are labels on the equipment stating the equipment contains ammable refrigerant 16 Recovery When removing refrigerant from a system either for servicing or decommissioning it is recommended good practice that all refrigerants are removed safely When transferring refrigerant into cylinders ensure that only appropriate refrigerant recovery cylinders are employed Ensure that the correct number of cylinders for holding the total system charge is available All cylinders to be used are designated for the recovered refrigerant and labelled for that refrigerant ie special cylinders for the recovery of refrigerant Cylinders shall be complete with pressure relief valve and associated shuto valves in good working order Empty recovery cylinders are evacuated and if possible cooled before recovery occurs The recovery equipment shall be in good working order with a set of instructions concerning the equipment that is at hand and shall be suitable for the recovery of ammable refrigerants In addition a set of calibrated weighing scales shall be available and in good working order Hoses shall be complete with leakfree disconnect couplings and in good condition Before using the recovery machine check that it is in satisfactory working order has been properly maintained and that any associated electrical components are sealed to prevent ignition in the event of a refrigerant release Consult manufacturer if in doubt The recovered refrigerant shall be returned to the refrigerant supplier in the correct recovery cylinder and the relevant Waste Transfer Note arranged Do not mix refrigerants in recovery units and especially not in cylinders If compressors or compressor oils are to be removed ensure that they have been evacuated to an acceptable level to make certain that ammable refrigerant does not remain within the lubricant The evacuation process shall be carried out prior to returning the compressor to the suppliers Only electric heating to the compressor body shall be employed to accelerate this process When oil is drained from a system it shall be carried out safely SAFETY amp IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Page 24 - English - : 5 LIMITATIONS 51 Third parties are often involved in providing advice to consumers about the climate control solutions best suited to the consumers needs Any advice or recommendations given by such parties including advice about Product tness for purpose and overall system design sizing and application are not the responsibility of Rinnai This includes but is not limited to the heat load calculations airow and system balancing 52 This Warranty does not apply to any Product installed at an Installation Site which is outside Australia 53 Except where inconsistent with the purchasers statutory rights and the rights given by this Warranty all liabilities of Rinnai for any direct special indirect or consequential loss or damage any damage or expense for personal injury or any loss or destruction of property arising directly or indirectly from the use or inability to use the Product or any of its parts andor servicing the Product are expressly excluded 6 TRAVEL TRANSPORT amp ACCESS COSTS 61 The Purchaser must pay freight charges intransit insurance expenses and travelling costs for repairs replacements under this Warranty that are required to be performed 50km from the nearest Rinnai branch or Authorised Service Representative 62 Subject to clause 63 Rinnai will pay freight charges intransit insurance expenses and travelling costs for repairsreplacements that are required to be performed less than 50km from the nearest Rinnai branch or Authorised Service Representative subject to the following a Rinnai will arrange for such repairsreplacements and make any payment directly to the third party to provide the freight intransit insurance or travel services or b if Rinnai considers appropriate it will authorise the Purchaser in writing to pay for the relevant freight charges intransit insurance expenses or travelling costs and then upon provision by the Purchaser to Rinnai of a tax invoice showing those costs have been incurred reimburse the Purchaser for such costs which are within the terms of the authorisation If the Purchaser pays for the relevant freight charges intransit insurance expenses or travelling costs without written authorisation from Rinnai Rinnai will not reimburse the Purchaser for such costs 63 The Purchaser must pay all costs and expenses in respect of a any service call out fee if the Product is not accessible for service b making the Product accessible for service for example restricted access or working at heights or the labour cost for an additional person due to OHS requirements c providing a safe working environment for installation service maintenance or repair of the Product d any surcharge applicable in respect of supplying replacement parts outside Normal Business Hours and e any other costs and expenses in relation to claiming the Warranty that is not covered by clause 62 7 PURCHASERS RESPONSIBILITIES 71 The Purchaser must operate and maintain the Product in accordance with the Operating Instructions and service maintenance schedule including conducting an appropriate number of services to the unit during the Warranty period based on usage and the usage environment including but not limited to a regularly cleaning the air lters and replacing them where necessary b replacing expired batteries or other consumables as required c ensuring that the condensate drain is kept clean and clear of obstructions HOW TO MAKE A WARRANTY CLAIM If you wish to make a warranty claim in respect of any Portable Product please return it to the place of purchase or if that is not possible contact Rinnai to enquire about alternative arrangements If you wish to make a warranty claim in respect of any xed Product please contact Rinnai on the details set out below to make arrangements for an Authorised Service Representative to inspect the product As per clause 26 of the Terms and Conditions of Warranty purchasers are responsible for the costs of any repair andor call out fee where on inspection the alleged defect is found by Rinnais Authorised Service Representative not to be covered by this warranty or any statutory consumer guarantee applicable to the Product The Terms and Conditions of Warranty contain important information about your rights and obligations under this warranty Please read them fully and carefully before making a claim WARRANTY Rinnai 24 Portable Room AC OIM
