Porcelain EnamelCooktop(onsomemodels)
The porcelain enamel finish is sturdy
but breakable if misused. This finish is
acid-resistant. Howevex; any acidic toods
spilled (such as ti'uitj uices, tomato or
vinegar) should not be pemfitted to remain
on the finish.
If acids spill on the cooktop while it is hot,
use a dry paper towel or cloth to wipe it up
fight awa): _._]/ell the SUltilce has cooled,
wash with soap and water: Rinse well.
For other spills such as tilt spatterings, wash
with soap and water or cleansing powde_
after the sm_i_ce has cooled. Rinse well.
Polish with a dry cloth,
Be sure all surface units are turned
off before raising the eoolctop.
Lilt-Up Cooktop (onsomemodels)
Some models have a cooktop that can be
lifted up for easier cleaning. The entire
cooktop may be lifted up and supported
in the up position.
The StlYlilce tlnits do not need to be
i'eilloved; howevei; VO/I Illay reillove one to
make raising the cooktop easier: There are
two side supports that lock into position
when the cooktop is lifted up.
_Mter cleaning trader the cooktop with hot,
mild soapy water and a clean cloth, lower
the cooktop. Be careflfl not to pinch yore"

To lower the cooktop, push the rods back
and gently lower the cooktop tmtil it rests
in place.
NOTE: Do not lift the cooktop on radiant top models.
Lifting the cooktopcan lead to damage and improper
operation of the range.
Surface Unit

Receptacle Drip pan
Surface Units(onsomemodels)
Be sure aft the controls are turned to OFFand the
surface units are cool before attempting to remove
them.
To clean the smti_ee milts, tm'n the control
to the highest setting for a minute. The coils
will bm'n offanv soil.
Toremove a surface unit:
To remove the drip pans for cleaning, the
surfi_ce traits must be removed fi_t.
IJft the SUltilce unit about 1 inch above the
drip pan and pull it out.
Do not lift thesurface unit more than r' If you do,
it maynot lie flat on the drippan when you plug it
back in.
Repeated lifting of the sm_Jce refit more than
1 inch above the dil I) pan can pem_anently
damage the receptacle,
Toreplace a surface unit:
Replace the drip pan into file recess in the
cooktop. Make sure the opening in the pan
lines up _ith the receptacle.
Insert the temfinals of the sm_i_ce refit
through the opening in the drip pan and
into the receptacle.
Guide the smti_ce refit into place so it rests
e;'enly.
Donot lYnmersethe surfaceunits in
liquids of any kind
Donot dean thesurface units in a
dishwasher
Donot bend the surface unit plug
terminals.
Donot attempt to dean, adjust or in any
way repair theplug-in receptacle.
Drip Pans Ofso equipped)
Remove the SUll'hce units. Then lift out the
drip pans.
Place them in a covered containe_: Add
1/4 cup ammonia and let soak several
hom_ or overnight. Wash, rinse well
and (h_'.
The drip pans may also be cleaned in the
dishwasher:
Clean the area trader the drip pans often.
Btfilt-up soil, espedally grease, may catch fire.
Do not cover the drip pans with foil. Using foil so
close to the receptacle couldcause shock,fke or
damage to the range.
NOTE: Do not clean the drip pans in a
self-cleaning oven.
