2. TO REMOVE VARIDRiVE BELTS
The Belts on this trac[or are special for this application.
When replacing Belts always [epiace with original equlp_
ment.
a. Ptace Varidrive Contro_ (Fig 14) in slow position..
b. Set Parking Brake (Fig 12),
c Move Attachment Clutcf'_ Lever (Fig.. 141 to disengaged
posidon
d Place mower in its lowest position (Fig. 37 - Inset)
TO REMOVE PRIMARY BELT
a. Remove mower Main Drive Belt, refer to "Belt Re-
placement", page 19o
bo Roll Belt off Variator (bottom groove) (Fig_ 28).
c.. Remove Belt from Engine Pultey_
TO REMOVE SECONDARY BELT
a. Remove Primary Belt (Fig.. 28). Relieve Idler tension by
engaging parking brake
b Remove Drawbar and Belt Guard at T_ansaxte Pulley
(Fig. :29)
c. Remove Flat Idler "A"..
d.. Roll Belt off Transaxte Pulteyo Remove Belt from
Flat Idler and Variator (top groove).
e, Reverse the above procedures to install new Belts.
NOTE: WHEN A NEW BELT OR BELTS ARE INSTALL-
ED YOU MUST CHECK BELT TENSION. REFER TO
"CHECK BELT TENSION", PAGE 8.
3,, VARIDRtVE CONTROL ADJUSTMENT
If the Varidrive Control (Fig. 14) moves from the selected
speed position under load, tighten the Variddve Handle
Assembly Locknut (Page 30_ Key No 29)
4_ CLEAN BATTERY AND TERMINALS
Corrosion and dirt on the Batte{y and Terminals cause
the Battery to "leak" power.
LEAD-ACID BATTERIES GENERATE EX_
PLOSIVE GASES. KEEP SPARKS, FLAME,
AND SMOKING MATERIALS AWAY
FROM BATTERIES. ALWAYS SHIELD
EYES AROUND BATTERIES_
a. Disconnect BLACK Battery' Cable then RED Battmy
Cable and remove Battery from Tractor. Wash Battery
with four tablespoons of baking soda to one gatlon of
water. NOTE: BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET THE SODA
SOLUTION INTO THE CELLS. Rinse the Battery with
plain water, dry and reinstall on Tractor.
bo Clean terminals and Battery Cable ends with a wire
brush until bright_ Replace Battery Cables, connecting
RED Battery Cable first, then BLACK Battery Cable to
respective terminals° Coat terminal connections with
Vasoline. Replace Terminal Cover.,
