3. Pull up the support rod from the clip,
and insert it into the support rod hole
indicated by the arrow to hold the hood
open.
Closing The Hood
To close the hood, proceed as follows:
1. Check under the hood area to make
certain all filler caps are in place and all
loose items (e.g. tools, oil containers,
etc.) have been removed.
2. Lift the hood with one hand, and
with the other hand grasp the padded
area on the support rod.
3. Secure the support rod into the rod
clip.
4. Verify that the support rod is
secured in the clip before closing the
hood.
5. Lower the hood slowly to a height of
about 8 inches (20 cm) above its closed
position and then let it drop.
Warning!
Be sure the hood is fully latched before
driving your vehicle. If the hood is not fully
latched, it could open when the vehicle is
in motion and block your vision. Failure to
follow this warning could result in serious
injury or death.
Caution!
To prevent possible damage, do not slam
the hood to close it. Lower hood to
approximately 8 inches (20 cm) and drop
the hood to close. Make sure hood is fully
closed for both latches. Never drive vehicle
unless hood is fully closed, with both
latches engaged.
