Initial commissioning
23
Before using the steam ironing sys-
tem for the first time, remove all
packaging (e.g., the protective foil
from the tower).
Determining the water hard-
ness
To ensure the steam ironing system will
function properly and the descaling re-
minder appears at the appropriate time,
the appliance must be set to the water
hardness level of your local water sup-
ply.
The water hardness level indicates
how much calcium is dissolved in the
water. The higher the calcium content,
the harder the water. The harder the
water, the more often the appliance
must be descaled.
Your local water supplier can inform you
of the water hardness level in your area.
This information can also be found on
the internet and the home page of the
relevant utility company.
As an alternative, you may also deter-
mine the approximate water hardness
by using the test strips included in the
delivery.
Using the test strips to determine the
water hardness
Dip the test strip for approx. 1second
into the water.
Remove the test strip from the water
and shake the water off the test strip.
After approx. 1 minute, and based on
the coloration, you will be able to read
the water hardness from the table be-
low:
Test strip Water hardness
4green areas < 3gpg (3°dH)
1 red area < 4gpg (4°dH)
2red areas < 7gpg (7°dH)
3red areas < 15gpg (14 °dH)
4red areas < 22gpg (21°dH)
Tip: It is useful to know your water
hardness so that you can provide the
service technician with this information
in the event of any service calls. Please
note your water hardness level here:
