Replacing the Presser Foot

Removing and attaching the presser foot
holder
Remove the presser foot holder when cleaning the machine or
when installing a presser foot that does not use the presser
foot holder, such as the walking foot and quilting foot. Use
the screwdriver to remove the presser foot holder.

Turn off the machine.

Remove the presser foot.
For details, refer to “Replacing the presser foot” on
page B-29.

Use the screwdriver to loosen the presser foot holder
screw.
Turn the screw toward the back of the machine
(counterclockwise).
The presser foot holder screw can also be loosened
or tightened with the disc-shaped (or L-shaped)
screwdriver.

Turn off the machine.

Raise the presser foot lever.

Align the presser foot holder with the lower-left side of
the presser bar.

Hold the presser foot holder in place with your right
hand, and then tighten the screw using the screwdriver
in your left hand.
Turn the screw toward you (clockwise).

Note
When a stitch is selected, the icon for the presser
foot that should be used appears in the screen.
Check that the correct presser foot is attached
before starting to sew. If the wrong presser foot
is installed, turn off the machine, attach the
correct presser foot, turn machine back on and
then select the desired stitch again.

CAUTION
Be sure to securely tighten the presser foot
holder screw, otherwise the presser foot
holder may fall off and the needle may strike
it, causing the needle to bend or break.
Note
If the presser foot holder is not correctly
installed, the thread tension will be incorrect.
