Before starting, make sure you haveremoved any
of the metal twist-ties which often come with frozen
food bags, and replace them with strings or elastic
bands.
Open containers such as cartons before they are

food isstill icy in the center, return itto the
microwave ovenfor moredefrosting.
The length of defrostingtime varies accordingto
how solidly thefood isfrozen.
The shape of the package affects how quicklyfood
willdefrost. Shallowpackages will defrost more
quicklythan a deep block.
As food begins to defrost, separate the pieces.
Separated pieces defrost more easily.
Use small pieces of aluminum foil to shield parts
offood such as chickenwings, legtips, fish tails,or
areas that startto get warm. Make surethe foildoes
