Starting the Engine

The fuel valve is ON.

Make sure the engine stop switch is in the
RUN position.

Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Pull the choke lever back all the way to
fully ON if the engine is cold.

Press the start button with the throttle
completely closed.

Do not open the throttle when starting
the engine
with the choke on. This will
lean the mixture, resulting in hard
starting.

Immediately after the engine starts, push
the choke lever forward to the halfway
position.

About a half minute after the engine
starts, push the choke lever forward all the
way to fully OFF.

If idling is unstable, open the throttle
slightly.
Start your engine using the following
procedure, regardless of whether the
engine is cold or warm.

NOTICE
If the engine does not start within 5 seconds, turn t
the ignition OFF and wait 10 seconds before trying to
start the engine again to recover battery voltage.
Extended fast idling and revving the engine can t
damage the engine, and the exhaust system.
Extended use of the choke may impair piston and t
cylinder wall lubrication and damage the engine.
