Steam operation
Ready
After inserting the water container, wait
until the steam ironing system is ready
to use steam. This is indicated by the
Ready message in the display.
If the water container is filled during the
ironing process, the steam generator
may have to be reheated.
Tip: If you fill the water container as
soon as the Fill water cont. message
is displayed and the container is in-
serted into the tower there is no delay.
The steam is immediately ready for use.
As long as the message Fill water
cont. is shown in the display, the steam
ironing system is not active. However,
you may continue to use the iron.
Tip: You can save energy by ironing dry
and without steam. To do this, remove
the water container. In this case, the
steam generator will not be heated and
the inflation and suction function of the
ironing board is not available (see "Ac-
tive ironing board").
Water quality
Use only fresh tap water.
Water prepared using commercially
available water filters may also be
used.
For water hardness of more than 15gpg
(14°dH) you can use tap water mixed at
a 1:1 ratio with distilled water. This
halves the water hardness. Set the
halved water hardness to the corre-
sponding level of the steam ironing sys-
tem (see "Setting the water hardness").
If your tap water has a water hardness
of 63gpg (60°dH), the mixing ratio of
1:1 with distilled water results in a water
hardness of 31gpg (30°dH). The water
hardness level that must be set on your
steam ironing system must now be Level
7.
Never attempt to use solely distilled
water to fill the water container.
This can cause the steam ironing
system to malfunction.
Do not use water from a water soft-
ener system.
Do not use condensate (e.g. from
other appliances such as air condi-
tioning units, dryers).
Never use rainwater.
Do not use additives, (e.g. perfumes,
ironing water, starch, carbon diox-
ide).
