Emergency Gear Selection &
Operation
If the shift switches do not operate, use the following procedure to
manually select a gear so you may drive the vehicle to a location
where it can be loaded and transported to your dealer.
1.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON (q) position.
2.
Remove the seat (page 118), and tank cover assembly (page
119).
3.
Remove the gear change tool from the storage compartment
(page 116).
4.
Check the neutral indicator.
If the transmission is in neutral, go to step 5.
If the transmission is not in neutral, use the gear change tool to
shift to neutral so you will be able to start the engine. Refer to
How to Shift Gears Manually: (page 213).
5.
Apply the parking brake.
6.
Press the start button to start the engine.
7.
Set 2nd gear position. Refer to How to Shift Gears Manually:
(page 213).
8.
Return the gear change tool to the storage location.
9.
Install the tank cover assembly and seat.
10.
Get on the ATV. Ride it at a safe speed to a place where it can be
repaired or serviced.
