About this manual
The SA-FT7ED is a 5.1 channel speaker system consisting
of two front speakers, two surround speakers (there is no
difference between front and surround speakers), one center
speaker, and one subwoofer. It supports Sony Digital Cinema
Sound, Dolby* Pro Logic, and Dolby Digital, etc., and is thus
geared towards the enjoyment of movies.

Precautions
On safety
• Before operating the system, be sure that the operating voltage
of the system is identical with that of your local power supply.
• The unit is not disconnected from the AC power source
(mains) as long as it is connected to the wall outlet, even if the
unit itself has been turned off.
• Unplug the system from the wall outlet if it is not to be used
for an extended period of time. To disconnect the cord, pull
the cord by grasping the plug. Never pull the cord itself.
• Should any liquid or solid object fall into the system, unplug
the system’s power cord and have the system checked by
qualified personnel before operating it any further.
• AC power cord must be changed only at the qualified service
shop.
Assembly
Attaching the table top stand
(for front/surround speakers)

Secure the terminal adapters () to the table top
stand bases () with the screws (M5) () (-1).

Attach the front or surround speakers to the
terminal adapters (), and secure them with the
hex-head screws () (-2).
Attaching the wall mounting bracket
(for front/surround/center speaker)

Attach the terminal adapters () to the front
and surround speakers before attaching the wall
mounting bracket.
Secure the wall mounting hooks () to the back
of each speaker with the screws (M4) () and
connect the speaker cords ( or ) (-1).

Attach the wall mounting brackets ( or ) on a
wall with screws (not supplied) (-2).

Secure the screws on the wall mounting brackets
() after adjusting the angles (front and surround
speakers only) (-3).

Set the wall mounting hooks () on the back of
the speakers onto the wall mounting brackets (
or ) (-4).
Notes
• Use screws that are suitable for the wall material and strength.
As a plaster board wall is especially fragile, attach the screws
securely to a beam and fasten them to the wall. Install the
speakers on a vertical and flat wall where reinforcement is
applied.
• Contact a screw shop or installer regarding the wall material
or screws to be used.
• Sony is not responsible for accidents or damage caused by
improper installation, insufficient wall strength, improper
screw installation, or natural calamity, etc.
Attaching the center speaker stand
(for center speaker)

Thread the speaker cord () through the holes on
the base () and the adjuster () of the center
speaker stand, and connect it to the center speaker
(-1).

Secure the adjuster () to the center speaker with
the screws (M4) () (-2).

Secure the base () to the adjuster () with the
screws (M5) () after adjusting the angle (-3).
Placing the stickers
When using the speakers with their stands, you can cover the
screw holes for wall mounting on the back of the speakers with
the supplied stickers.
When installing the front/surround speakers on the wall, you
can cover the screw holes on the bottom of the terminal adapters
with the supplied stickers.
On operation
• Do not drive the speaker system with a continuous wattage
exceeding the maximum input power of the system.
• If the polarity of the speaker connections are not correct,
the bass tones will be weak and the position of the various
instruments obscure.
• Contact between bare speaker wires at the speaker terminals
may result in a short circuit.
• Before connecting, turn off the amplifier to avoid damaging
the speaker system.
• The speaker grille cannot be removed. Do not attempt to
remove the grille on the speaker system. If you try to remove
it, you may damage the speaker.
• The volume level should not be turned up to the point of
distortion.
If you encounter color irregularity on a
nearby TV screen
This speaker system is magnetically shielded to allow it to be
installed near a TV set. However, color irregularities may still
be observed on certain types of TV sets.
If color irregularity is observed...
Turn off the TV set, then turn it on again in 15 to 30 minutes.
If color irregularity is observed again...
Place the speakers farther away from the TV set.
If howling occurs
Reposition the speakers or turn down the volume on the
amplifier.
On placement
• Do not set the speakers in an inclined position.
• Do not place the speakers in locations that are:
— Extremely hot or cold
— Dusty o to vibrations
— Subject to direct sunlight
• Use caution when placing the speaker on a specially treated
(waxed, oiled, polished, etc.) floor, as staining or discoloration
may result.
On cleaning
Clean the speaker cabinets with the supplied cleaning cloth.
If you have any questions or problems concerning your speaker
system, please consult your nearest Sony dealer.

The speakers of this system can be installed in 2 ways: using
table top stands, or wall mounting brackets. The accessories
needed for each installation method are shown in the tables
below.

A propos de ce manuel
Le SA-FT7ED est un système d’enceintes 5.1 canaux constitué
de deux enceintes avant, de deux enceintes surround (il n’existe
aucune différence entre les enceintes avant et les enceintes
surround), d’une enceinte centrale et d’un caisson de graves. Il
prend en charge Sony Digital Cinema Sound, Dolby* Pro Logic,
Dolby Digital, etc. et est donc destiné plus particulièrement à
visionner des films.
* Le terme « Dolby » et le sigle double D sont des marques
commerciales de Dolby Laboratories.
Précautions
Sécurité
• Avant de mettre le système en service, assurez-vous que
sa tension de fonctionnement est identique à celle de
l’alimentation secteur locale.
• Le système n’est pas isolé de la source d’alimentation secteur
tant qu’il reste branché sur la prise murale, même s’il a été
éteint.
• Débranchez le système s’il ne doit pas être utilisé pendant
longtemps. Pour débrancher le cordon, tirez sur la fiche. Ne
tirez jamais sur le cordon proprement dit.
• Si un liquide ou un solide pénètre dans le système, débranchez
le cordon d’alimentation du système et faites vérifier le
système par un professionnel avant de l’utiliser à nouveau.
• Le cordon d’alimentation secteur doit être remplacé seulement
dans un centre de service compétent.
Fonctionnement
• Ne pas faire fonctionner le système acoustique
continuellement à une puissance dépassant sa puissance
d’entrée maximale.
• Si la polarité des connexions d’enceintes n’est pas correcte,
les graves seront faibles et la position des différents
instruments de musique indistincte.
• Le contact des fils d’enceinte dénudés au niveau des bornes de
l’enceinte peut provoquer un court-circuit.
• Avant de raccorder les enceintes, éteignez l’amplificateur pour
éviter d’endommager le système acoustique.
• Les grilles des enceintes ne peuvent pas être retirées.
N’essayez pas de les enlever car les enceintes pourraient être
endommagées.
• Le volume sonore ne doit pas être élevé au point que le son en
soit déformé.
Si les couleurs sont anormales sur un écran
de téléviseur situé à proximité
Le système acoustique est isolé contre le magnétisme et peut
être installé près d’un téléviseur. Cependant, avec certains
téléviseurs, vous pourrez observer des anomalies de couleur.
Si les couleurs sont anormales…
c Mettez le téléviseur hors tension, puis remettez-le sous
tension 15 à 30 minutes plus tard.
Si les couleurs restent anormales…
c Eloignez les enceintes du téléviseur.
Si un sifflement se produit
Repositionnez les enceintes ou réduisez le volume sur
l’amplificateur.
Emplacement
• N’installez pas les enceintes en position inclinée.
• N’installez pas les enceintes dans des endroits :
— Extrêmement chauds ou froids
— Poussiéreux ou sales
— Très humides
— Sujets à des vibrations
— Exposés à la lumière directe du soleil
• Prenez les précautions nécessaires lors de l’installation des
enceintes sur un plancher traité (ciré, huilé, verni, etc.) pour
éviter l’apparition de taches ou la décoloration du sol.
Entretien
Nettoyez les boîtiers des enceintes avant la lingette de nettoyage
fournie.
Pour toute question ou difficulté concernant votre système
acoustique, veuillez consulter votre revendeur Sony.
Montage
Fixation du support de table
(pour les enceintes avant/surround)

Fixez les bornes de raccordement () aux bases
des supports de table () à l’aide des vis (M5)
() (-1).

Raccordez les enceintes avant ou surround aux
bornes de raccordement () et fixez-les à l’aide
des vis à six pans () (-2).
Fixation du support de fixation
mural
(pour les enceintes avant/surround/centrale)

Branchez les bornes de raccordement () aux
enceintes avant et surround avant de fixer le
support de fixation mural.
Fixez les crochets de fixation muraux () à
l’arrière de chaque enceinte à l’aide des vis (M4)
() et raccordez les cordons des enceintes ( ou
) (-1).

Fixez les supports de fixation muraux ( ou )
au mur à l’aide de vis (non fournies) (-2).

Fixez les vis aux supports de fixation muraux ()
après avoir réglé les angles (enceintes avant et
surround uniquement) (-3).

Accrochez les crochets de fixation muraux (),
situés à l’arrière des enceintes, aux supports de
fixation muraux ( ou ) (-4).
Remarques
• Utilisez des vis adaptées au matériau et à la résistance du mur.
Comme les plaques de plâtre sont particulièrement fragiles,
fixez fermement les vis à une poutre et fixez-les au mur.
Installez les enceintes sur une paroi verticale et plane à un
endroit où se trouve un renforcement.
• Adressez-vous à un magasin de bricolage ou à un installateur
pour connaître le matériau du mur ou les vis à utiliser.
• Sony ne peut être tenu responsable de tout accident ou
dégât entraîné par une installation incorrecte, une résistance
insuffisante du mur, une mauvaise fixation des vis, une
catastrophe naturelle, etc.
Fixation du support de l’enceinte
centrale
(pour l’enceinte centrale)

Faites passer le cordon d’enceinte () à travers
les orifices de la base () et de l’adaptateur ()
du support de l’enceinte centrale et raccordez-le à
celle-ci (-1).

Fixez l’adaptateur () à l’enceinte centrale à
l’aide des vis (M4) () (-2).

Fixez la base () à l’adaptateur () à l’aide des
vis (M5) () après avoir réglé l’angle (-3).
Placement des autocollants
Lorsque vous utilisez les enceintes avec leurs supports, vous
pouvez employer les autocollants fournis pour obturer les
orifices des vis de fixation murale, à l’arrière des enceintes.
Lorsque vous fixez les enceintes avant/surround au mur, vous
pouvez utiliser les autocollants fournis pour obturer les orifices
des vis situés sur le dessous des bornes de raccordement.

Les enceintes de ce système peuvent être installées de 2
manières : à l’aide de supports de table ou de supports de
fixation muraux. Les accessoires nécessaires pour chacune
de ces méthodes d’installation sont illustrés dans les tableaux
ci-dessous.
