Shooting - Selecting Particular Effects 87
Manually Setting Image Characteristics
The ISO speed, contrast, sharpness and saturation settings can be adjusted for shooting.
1
In the [ (Rec.)] menu, select one of the above items.
See Selecting Menus and Settings (p. 38).
2
Select a value for the item and press the button.
ISO speed
Switch speeds when you are shooting in dark areas
or want to use a fast shutter speed.
You can select from 50 (default setting), 100, 200,
400, 800 (only for PowerShot S30) and AUTO.
When AUTO is selected, the camera automatically
adjusts ISO between 50 and 150 only.
Higher ISO speeds increase the image noise. To take
clean images, use as low an ISO speed as possible.
Contrast
Select from - (Weak), 0 (Neutral) and + (Strong).
This function allows you to adjust the degree of
brightness.
Sharpness
Select from - (Weak), 0 (Neutral) and + (Strong).
This function allows you to adjust how sharply
outlines are defined.
Saturation
Select from - (Weak), 0 (Neutral) and + (Strong).
This function allows you to adjust the color
depth.
