About Dante
This product uses Dante as a protocol for transmitting audio signals. Dante is a network
protocol developed by Audinate. It is designed to deliver multi-channel audio signals at
various sampling and bit rates, as well as device control signals over a Giga-bit Ethernet
(GbE) network.
For details on Dante, refer to the Audinate website.
https://www.audinate.com/

PY64-D Owner’s Manual 9
In addition, a variety of information about Dante can be found on the Yamaha Pro Audio
website.
https://www.yamahaproaudio.com/
NOTE
With a Dante network, do not use the EEE function* of the network switch.
The EEE function may deteriorate the clock synchronization performance and
interrupting audio.
Therefore, please note the following.
• When using managed switches, turn off the EEE function on all ports used for Dante.
Do not use a switch that does not allow the EEE function to be turned off.
• When using unmanaged switches, do not use switches that support the EEE function.
In such switches, the EEE function cannot be turned off.
* EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) is a technology that reduces switch power consumption during
periods of low network traffic. It is also known as Green Ethernet and IEEE802.3az.

Part Names & Functions
1 Dante [PRIMARY]/[SECONDARY]
These etherCON CAT5e (RJ-45) connectors connect the card to a Dante audio network.
They are equipped with a sampling rate converter (SRC). In addition, they support star
and daisy-chain configurations.
NOTICE
To avoid electromagnetic interference, use STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) cables that are
rated at CAT5e or higher. For STP cables, make sure that the metal part of the connector
and the shield part of the cable are in contact with each other using conductive tape or
other means.
NOTE
• We recommend using RJ-45 plugs that are compatible with Neutrik etherCON CAT5e
connectors. You can also use cables with standard RJ-45 plugs.
• The maximum length of cable that can be used varies depending on the type of cable.
When using CAT5e cables, data can be sent between devices that are connected by
up to 100 m of cable.
• If you plan to use a sampling frequency that is not supported by the target device into
which you are installing the card, turn the SRC On. Turn the SRC On or Off on the
target device.
• SRC processing is done in 24 bits.
2 [LINK/ACT]

3 [1G]
Indicate the connection status of the corresponding [PRIMARY] and [SECONDARY]
connectors.
If an indicator is lit orange, the corresponding connector is connected to a Gigabit
Ethernet network. If an indicator is not lit, there is a problem with the connection. In this
case, check all network cables and switches. If you cannot resolve the problem, please
contact your Yamaha dealer.
4 [SYSTEM]
Indicate the operating status of this card.
During normal operation, the green indicator is lit and the red indicator is off. When the
unit is turned on, if the green indicator is off and the red indicator is lit or is flashing, an
error has occurred.
For more information on the meaning of the indicators, refer to the Status/Message List*.
5 [SYNC]
Indicate the status of the Dante clock sync.
When the green indicator is lit, the device that this card is installed in is the clock follower,
and the clock is in sync. When the green indicator is flashing, the device that this card is
installed in is the clock leader. When the card is turned on, the green indicator should
either light or flash; if the indicator does not light or flash, an error has occurred.
For more information on the steadily-lit or flashing orange [SYNC] indicator, or the
meaning of each indicator, refer to the Status/Message List*.
6 Screw holes
Affix this card to the host device by using these screw holes. Use the screws that came
with the host device to affix the card. If the card is not properly affixed, component failure
or malfunction may occur.

To remove this card from the host device, pull the card toward you while holding these
handles.

indicated by a copyright notice that is included in or attached to the work (an example is provided in the Appendix
below).
"Derivative Works" shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object form, that is based on (or derived from) the
Work and for which the editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications represent, as a whole, an
original work of authorship. For the purposes of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain
separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of, the Work and Derivative Works thereof.
"Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including the original version of the Work and any modifications or
additions to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work
by the copyright owner or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of the copyright owner. For
the purposes of this definition, "submitted" means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent to the
Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to communication on electronic mailing lists, source code

license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work, where such license
applies only to those patent claims licensable by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their Contribu-
tion(s) alone or by combination of their Contribution(s) with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If
You institute patent litigation against any entity (including a cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the
Work or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct or contributory patent infringement, then any
patent licenses granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate as of the date such litigation is filed.

104 PY64-D Owner’s Manual
4. Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium,

Derivative Works; or, within a display generated by the Derivative Works, if and wherever such third-party notices
normally appear. The contents of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and do not modify the License.
You may add Your own attribution notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside or as an addendum
to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided
that such additional attribution notices cannot be construed as modifying the License.
You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and may provide additional or different license
terms and conditions for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or for any such Derivative Works as
a whole, provided Your use, reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with the conditions stated
in this License.
5. Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise, any Contribution intentionally submitted for
inclusion in the Work by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of this License, without any
additional terms or conditions. Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify the terms of any
separate license agreement you may have executed with Licensor regarding such Contributions.

limited to damages for loss of goodwill, work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all other commer-
cial damages or losses), even if such Contributor has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
9. Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may
choose to offer, and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity, or other liability obligations and/or
rights consistent with this License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only on Your own behalf and
on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify, defend, and
hold each Contributor harmless for any liability incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason of
