NameEnteradescriptivename.Thiscanforexamplebearstandlastname,arole,oralocation.Thenameisusedas
analiasandisespeciallyusefulwhenseveralaccountshavethesameuserID.
DefaultaccountSelecttomakethisthedefaultaccount.Onlyoneaccountcanbethedefaultaccount.
Atstartup,thersttimetheproductisaccessedorafterareset,apeeraccountiscreatedautomaticallyandsettobethe
defaultaccount.Thispeeraccountcanonlyberemovedifatleastonemoreaccounthasbeenaddedtothelist.
ThedefaultaccountwillbeusedtomaketriggeredcallsandtomaketestcallsontheSIPSettingspage.Formore

AccountCredentials
UserID(required)EnterthenameorPBXextensionthatshallbeshownwhencallingotheraccounts.Aprivatebranch
exchange(PBX)isatelephoneswitchingsystemthatconnectstelephoneextensionstoeachotherandtoothertelephone
networks.EachPBX-connecteddevicehasitsownextensionnumber.
AuthenticationIDSomePBXsrequirethattheaccountveriesitselfwiththeSIPregistrartoallowaccesstothePBX.For
moreinformation,seethePBX’sandserviceprovider’sinstructions.BydefaulttheAuthenticationIDisidenticaltotheUser
ID.ToenableanAuthenticationIDthatisdifferentfromtheUserID,cleartheUseUserIDasAuthenticationIDcheckbox.
PasswordEnterthepasswordfortheaccount.Apasswordisnotrequiredforpeer-to-peeraccounts.
ConrmpasswordRepeatthepassword.Apasswordisnotrequiredforpeer-to-peeraccounts.
CallerIDEnterthenameorphonenumberthatyouwanttherecipienttoseewhenyoumakethecall.
IfyouonlyenterauserID,theaccountwillbeusedasapeer-to-peeraccount.Thismeansthatunlessthedevicesareconnected
toNATswithSIP-specicportforwardingsuchasSTUNorTURN,theaccountwillonlybeabletocommunicatewithdevices

TocreateanaccountthatisregisteredwithaPBXoraserviceprovider,entertheuserID,password,andtheregistraraddress

SIPServerSettings
DomainnameIfavailable,enterthepublicdomainname.ThedomainnamewillbeshownaspartoftheSIPaddress
whencallingotheraccounts.Formoreinformation,seeAboutSIPAddressesonpage16.
RegistraraddressEntertheSIPserver’sregistraraddress.ThisistopointouttheSIPregistrarwithwhichtheaccount
shouldregisteritself.TheSIPregistraristhepartofthePBXthatkeepstrackofalltheextensions.

TheregistraraddressshouldbeanIPv4address.Theproduct’sVoIPcapabilitiescurrentlydonotincludesupportforIPv6.
TransportSettings
EnableSIPSSelecttouseSecureSessionInitiationProtocol(SIPS).SIPSusestheTLStransportmodetoencryptthe
trafc.IfyouenableSIPS,youcannotselectanyothertransportmodethanTLS.
TransportmodeSelecttheSIPtransportmodefortheaccount:UDP,TCP,orTLS.
AllowportupdatemessagesthroughMWIMessagewaitingindicator(MWI)notiestheuserofchangesinthe
portsettings.
ThedifferencebetweenSIPS(EnableSIPS)andSIPoverTLS(TransportmodeTLS)isthatSIPSensuresthateachmessagetransfer
isencrypted,whileSIPoverTLSonlyhastomakeabesteffort.
