SessionInitiationProtocol(SIP)isatext-basedprotocol,similartoHTTPandSMTP,forinteractivecommunicationsessionsbetween

users.Thesessionscanincludevoice,video,andchatelements.Forinformation,seeAboutSIPAddressesonpage16.

BeforetheAxisproductcanbeusedtomakeandreceivecalls,youneedtoconguretheSIPsettings.ThisincludesenablingSIP,

conguringtheports,andsettingtherulesforNetworkAddressTranslation(NAT)traversal.

ToconguretheSIPsettings:

1.GotoSetup>VoIP>SIPSettings.

2.SelectEnableSIP.

3.Tomakeatestcalltoanaccountonanotherdevice,enteravalidSIPaddressfortheotherdeviceandclickTestcall.

4.ToallowtheAxisproducttoreceivecalls,selectAllowincomingcalls.

5.EntertheSIPportnumberandtheSIPTLSportnumber.Formoreinformation,seePortSettingsonpage13.

6.SelecttheprotocolsyouwanttoenableforNATtraversal.SeeNetworkAddressTranslation(NAT)Traversal(port

forwarding)onpage13.

7.ClickSave.

EvenifyouchoosetonotenableSIP,youcanconguretheSIPsettings.ButrememberthatwhenSIPisdisabled,you

cannotmakeorreceivecalls.
