7. After theoil hasfinisheddraining,press thetwo tabs inwardand
pushthe oildrainvalvebackin to lockthe valveclosed.Remove
the hose,andre-capthe endof the oildrainvalveto keepdebris
fromenteringthedrain port.
8. Refillthe enginewith new motoroil until theoil levelon the
dipstickreadsFULL.Replacethe oil fill cap/dipstick.
9. Pivotthe right handlebracetube back intoposition.Alignthe
middleholeinthe bracetubewiththe holein the handle.Secure
withthe starknobandcarriagescrewremovedearlier.
Onlyuse highqualitydetergentoil ratedwith APIserviceclassification
SF orSG. Selectthe oil'sSAEviscositygradeaccordingto your
expectedoperatingtemperature,Figure14.Althoughmulti-viscosity
oils (5W30,10W30etc.) improvestartingincold weather,thesemulti-
viscosityoilswill resultinincreasedoil consumptionwhenusedabove
32°RCheckyourengineoil levelmorefrequentlyto avoidpossible
enginedamagefrom runninglowon oil.

Checking the Spark Plug
Cleansparkplugand resettheelectrodegap to 0.030"at leastoncea
season;replaceevery 100hoursof operation.
1. Cleanareaaroundthe sparkplugbase.Do notsandblastspark
plug.Sparkplugshouldbe cleanedby scrapingor wire brushing
andwashingwith a commercialsolvent
2. Removeand inspectthe sparkplug.Checkgap to makesureit is
setat .030".See Figure15.
Replacethesparkplug if electrodesare pitted,burned,or the
porcelainis cracked.Usea Champion®RC12YCsparkplug.

Iffilters,or coversare notinstalledcorrectlyseriousinjury or death
could resultfrombackfire.Do not attemptto startthe enginewith
themremoved.
Donot usepressurizedairor solventstoclean theair cleaner
cartridge.
Cleanor replacethe air cleanerevery25 hoursof operation.
1. Pullup on air cleanerhandle,Figure10,and pull backtowardsthe
engine.

3. Carefullyremoveair cleanercartridgeand pre-cleaner(if
equipped)fromthe blowerhousing.
4. Cleanthe baseof the aircleanercartridgecarefullyto prevent
debrisfromenteringthe engine.
5. Placethe pre-cleaner,if equipped,andcartridge backintothe
blowerhousing.The cartridgemustbe placedsecurelyinto
position.
6. Align tabs on cover with slotsin blowerhousingand replacethe
cover.
