Attaching and Adjusting the Shoulder
Strap (Fig.F)
WARNING: The shoulder strap should only be slung
over one shoulder and not across thebody.
Assembling the Brush Cutter Attachment
to the Powerhead (Fig.A,C)
1. The upper powerhead pole
7
is equipped with three
latching holes
8
,
9
,
10
for the latching button
11
.
2. When installing the brush cutter attachment pole
1
into
the upper powerhead pole
7
, use the arrows
12
to align
the latching button
11
with latching hole
8
, as shown
in Fig. C.
DO NOT insert the latching button into latching hole
9
,
or
10
. Doing so will position the brush cutter head in an
incorrect orientation which could create a safety hazard.
Latching holes 
9
and
10
are for otherattachments.
NOTE: To properly engage the latching button
11
with
the latching hole
8
, slightly rotate the powerhead
pole
7
and move it axially until the latching button
engages the latchinghole.
3. Turn the knob
6
to secure theattachment.
4. When properly assembled, it should look like Fig. C. If it
does not, do not use, disassemble and re‑align the brush
cutter attachment
1
so the latching button
11
engages
with latching hole
8
as shown in Fig C.
WARNING: Always check to make sure that the knobs
are completely secured in place. If the knobs are not
completely secured it could result in the assemblies
becoming disconnected creating a hazardous
condition. Periodically check the connections to ensure
that the knobs are completely secured inplace.
Before any use, be sure everyone using this product
reads and understands all safety instructions and
other information contained in the powerhead and
attachmentmanuals.
Never apply power without an attachment being
properly mounted to thepowerhead.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal
injury, turn unit off and remove the battery pack
before making any adjustments or removing/
installing attachments or accessories. An
accidental start‑up can causeinjury.
Your attachment is designed such that the powerhead
can separate from the brush cutter attachment by turning
the knob
6
counterclockwise, depressing the latching
button
11
and gently pulling them apart by their
poles
1
,
7
.
This should only be done with the power switch off and the
battery pack removed. Inside the upper powerhead pole
7
is a mechanical coupling that will spin if the powerhead is
turned on. This coupling can cause injury if contacted while
the powerhead isoperating.
NOTE: Ensure the attachment is fully engaged and the
knob is fully tightened before operating. Check for proper
engagement and tightness duringuse.

(DeWALTpowerhead sold separately)
WARNING: To reduce risk of injury:
Attaching the Barrier to the Auxiliary
Handle (Fig.A, B)
1. Remove the four handle bolts
24
with washers
25
from
the auxiliary handle. Save the four handle bolts
24
with
washers
25
.
2. Place the auxiliary handle
17
on top of the upper
powerhead pole
7
.
3. Place the handle barrier
23
under the auxiliary handle
17
and upper powerhead pole
7
so the upper powerhead
pole
7
is sandwiched betweentwo handlepieces.
NOTE: Before assembling further, take care to align the
screw
26
on the handle barrier
23
with the key slot
27
on the underside of the upper powerhead pole
7
. If your
upper powerhead pole
7
does not have a key slot
27
,
remove the screw
26
on the handle barrier
23
before
assembling.
4. Hold the auxiliary handle
17
and handle barrier 
23
in place while sliding the four handle bolts
24
with
washers
25
into the auxiliary handle
17
from the top,
pushing them into the base of the handle barrier
23
.
5. Tighten the four handle bolts
24
with the supplied hex
wrench, securing the two handle pieces to the upper
powerhead pole
7
.
6. Ensure the handle is securelyattached beforeusing.
