5. CLI Commands
show role
Use the show role command to display a list of available roles - including default and customized user roles - or the details of
a specified role entry.
Syntax
show role [<name>]
• name – Specifies the entry for which role details are to be displayed.
Examples
The following command displays a list of available roles, which includes two custom-created roles:
console> show role
NAME DESCRIPTION
---------------- -------------
Administrator
Manager
Monitor
Guest
supervisor-day
supervisor-night
role: description
role description
Use the role description command to optionally enter a description of the role entry. Use the no form of this command to
clear the description.
Syntax
description <description>
no description
• description – Specifies a description for the entry. If spaces are required in the description, bookend the description with
quotation marks (“).
Examples
The following command adds the description “second shift” for entry “Manager 2”:
console> role (Manager 2)> description “second shift”

show description
Use the show description command to display the description of the role entry.
