YOURWARRANTYRIGHTSANDOBLIGATIONS
TheCaliforniaAirResourcesBoardandMTDConsumerGroupIncarepleasedtoexplaintheevaporativeemissioncontrolsystemwarrantyonyour2008lawn
mower.InCalifornia,newlawnmowermustbedesigned,builtandequippedtomeettheState'sstringentanti-smogstandards.MTDConsumerGroupIncmust
warranttheEECSonyourlawnmowerfortheperiodoftimelistedbelowprovidedtherehasbeennoabuse,neglectorimpropermaintenanceofyourlawnmower.
YourEECSmayincludepartssuchasthecarburetor,fuel-injectionsystem,theignitionsystem,catalyticconverter,fueltanks,fuellines,fuelcaps,valves,
canisters,filters,vaporhoses,clamps,connectors,andotherassociatedemission-relatedcomponents.
Whereawarrantableconditionexists,MTDConsumerGroupIncwillrepairyourlawnmoweratnocosttoyouincludingdiagnosis,partsandlabor.
MANUFACTURER'SWARRANTYCOVERAGE:
Thisevaporativeemissioncontrolsystemiswarrantedfortwoyears.Ifanyevaporativeemission-relatedpartonyourequipmentisdefective,thepartwillbe
repairedorreplacedbyMTDConsumerGroupInc.
OWNER'SWARRANTYRESPONSIBILITIES:
Asthelawnmowerowner,youareresponsibleforperformanceoftherequiredmaintenancelistedinyourowner'smanual.MTDConsumerGroupIncrecom-
mendsthatyouretainallreceiptscoveringmaintenanceonyourlawnmower,butMTDConsumerGroupInccannotdenywarrantysolelyforthelackofreceipts.
Asthelawnmowerowner,youshouldhoweverbeawarethatMTDConsumerGroupIncmaydenyyouwarrantycoverageifyourlawnmoweroraparthasfailed
duetoabuse,neglect,orimpropermaintenanceorunapprovedmodifications.
YouareresponsibleforpresentingyourlawnmowertoMTDConsumerGroupInc'sdistributioncenterorservicecenterassoonastheproblemexists.The
warrantyrepairsshouldbecompletedinareasonableamountoftime,nottoexceed30days.Ifyouhaveaquestionregardingyourwarrantycoverage,youshould
contacttheMTDConsumerGroupIncServiceDepartmentat1-800-800-7310.
GENERALEMISSIONSWARRANTYCOVERAGE:
MTDConsumerGroupIncwarrantstotheultimatepurchaserandeachsubsequentpurchaserthatthelawnmoweris:Designed,builtandequippedsoasto
conformwithallapplicableregulations;andfreefromdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanshipthatcausethefailureofawarrantedparttobeidenticalinallmaterial
respectstothatpartasdescribedinMTDConsumerGroupInc'sapplicationforcertification.
Thewarrantyperiodbeginsonthedatethelawnmowerisdeliveredtoanultimatepurchaserorfirstplacedintoservice.Thewarrantyperiodistwoyears.
Subjecttocertainconditionsandexclusionsasstatedbelow,thewarrantyonemission-relatedpartsisasfollows:
1.Anywarrantedpartthatisnotscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenanceinthewritteninstructionssupplied,iswarrantedforthewarrantyperiod
statedabove.Ifthepartfailsduringtheperiodofwarrantycoverage,thepartwillberepairedorreplacedbyMTDConsumerGroupIncaccordingtosubsection
(4)below.Anysuchpartrepairedorreplacedunderwarrantywillbewarrantedfortheremainderoftheperiod.
2.Anywarrantedpartthatisscheduledonlyforregularinspectioninthewritteninstructionssuppliediswarrantedforthewarrantyperiodstatedabove.Anysuch
partrepairedorreplacedunderwarrantywillbewarrantedfortheremainingwarrantyperiod.
3.Anywarrantedpartthatisscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenanceinthewritteninstructionssuppliediswarrantedfortheperiodoftimebeforethe
firstscheduledreplacementdateforthatpart.Ifthepartfailsbeforethefirstscheduledreplacement,thepartwillberepairedorreplacedbyMTDConsumer
GroupIncaccordingtosubsection(4)below.Anysuchpartrepairedorreplacedunderwarrantywillbewarrantedfortheremainderoftheperiodpriortothe
firstscheduledreplacementpointforthepart.
4.Repairorreplacementofanywarrantedpartunderthewarrantyprovisionshereinmustbeperformedatawarrantystationatnochargetotheowner.
5.Notwithstandingtheprovisionsherein,warrantyservicesorrepairswillbeprovidedatallofourdistributioncentersthatarefranchisedtoservicethesubject
enginesorequipment.
6.Thelawnmowerownerwillnotbechargedfordiagnosticlaborthatisdirectlyassociatedwithdiagnosisofadefective,emission-relatedwarrantedpart,
providedthatsuchdiagnosticworkisperformedatawarrantystation.
7.MTDConsumerGroupIncisliablefordamagestootherengineorequipmentcomponentsproximatelycausedbyafailureunderwarrantyofanywarranted
part.
8.Throughoutthelawnmowerwarrantyperiodstatedabove,MTDConsumerGroupIncwillmaintainasupplyofwarrantedpartssufficienttomeettheexpected
demandforsuchparts.
9.Anyreplacementpartmaybeusedintheperformanceofanywarrantymaintenanceorrepairsandmustbeprovidedwithoutchargetotheowner.Suchusewill
notreducethewarrantyobligationsofMTDConsumerGroupInc.
10.Add-onormodifiedpartsthatarenotexemptedbytheAirResourcesBoardmaynotbeused.Theuseofanynon-exemptedadd-onormodifiedpartsbythe
ultimatepurchaserwillbegroundsfordisallowingawarrantyclaims.MTDConsumerGroupIncwillnotbeliabletowarrantfailuresofwarrantedpartscaused
bytheuseofanon-exemptedadd-onormodifiedpart.
WARRANTEDPARTS:
TherepairorreplacementofanywarrantedpartotherwiseeligibleforwarrantycoveragemaybeexcludedfromsuchwarrantycoverageifMTDConsumerGroup
Incdemonstratesthatthelawnmowerhasbeenabused,neglected,orimproperlymaintained,andthatsuchabuse,neglect,orimpropermaintenancewasthe
directcauseoftheneedforrepairorreplacementofthepart.Thatnotwithstanding,anyadjustmentofacomponentthathasafactoryinstalled,andproperly
operating,adjustmentlimitingdeviceisstilleligibleforwarrantycoverage.Thefollowingemissionwarrantypartslistarecovered:FuelLine,FuelLineClamps
