SANITIZATION KIT INSTRUCTIONS

RO Sanitization Procedure:
1. Remove (turn to the left) the RO’s prefilter cartridge
(See figures at right).
2. Open the RO faucet to drain the product water
storage tank. Leave faucet open after flow stops.
3. Remove the RO cartridge, then remove the postfilter
cartridge (See figures at right). Set cartridges aside
for reuse, or dispose of them properly if replacing.
4. Install the sanitization
postfilter cartridge in the RO
system, then install the sanitization RO cartridge.
5. Fill the syringe with 1 oz. of ordinary household 5.25%
chlorine bleach (Hilex, Clorox, or other brands).
6. Slowly inject the bleach into the small center hole at
the open end of the sanitization prefilter cartridge.
7. Avoid tilting the open end of the cartridge down ward
as you install the sanitization prefilter cartridge in the
RO system.
8. Water will begin flowing from the open faucet. Let
water run until you smell bleach at the faucet, then
shut off the faucet.
9. The storage tank fills (takes a minute or two).
10. Let the system stand for 20 minutes.
11. Open the RO faucet and let water run until the bleach
odor is gone (at least 5 minutes).
12. Remove the sanitization prefilter cartridge.
13. Let the faucet continue to run until the storage tank
empties.
14. Remove the sanitization RO cartridge, then remove
the sanitization postfilter cartridge.
15. Install new cartridges (or reinstall cartridges removed
in Steps 1 and 3, above) in the following order: postfil-
ter, RO, prefilter.
16. Shut off RO faucet when water begins to trickle
steadily (not spurt) from the spout.
17. If new RO membrane and/or filter cartridges were
installed, follow the purging instructions in the RO
system’s manual.
18. Rinse, dry and store the RO Sanitization Kit syringe
and cartridges for future use.
RO Sanitization Kit:
= Prefilter sanitization cartridge (contains no filtration media)
= Postfilter sanitization cartridge (contains no filtration media)
= RO sanitization cartridge (contains no RO membrane)
= Syringe, 1 oz.
