General Informaon
This gas barbecue is CERTIFIED UNDER CANADIAN AND AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARDS, CSA 1.6a-2006
AND ANSI Z21.58a -2006 RESPECTIVELY FOR outdoor gas grills and should be installed TO CONFORM WITH
LOCAL CODES. In the absence of local codes, the installaon must conform with either ANSI Z223.1 / NFPA
54, Natural Gas and Propane Installaon code, CSA B149.1 or Propane Storage and Handling Code, B149.2.
If a rosserie motor is used, it must be electrically grounded in accordance with local codes or, in absence
of local codes, with the current CSA C22.1 Canadian electrical code in Canada or the Naonal Electrical
Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 in the United States.
California Proposion 65: The burning of gas fuel creates by-products, some of which are on the list as
substances known by the State of California to cause cancer or reproducve harm. When cooking with
gas, always ensure adequate venlaon to the unit, to minimize exposure to such substances.
Propane Cylinder Specicaons
WARNING! If these instrucons are not followed exactly, a re causing death or serious injury
may occur.
A dented or rusty cylinder may be hazardous and should be checked by your propane supplier. Never
use a cylinder with a damaged valve. Use only a propane supply cylinder constructed and marked in
accordance with the specicaons for LP-gas cylinders of the Naonal Standard of Canada, CAN/CSA-b339,
Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes for Transportaon of Dangerous Goods; and Commission, as applicable or
the Specicaons for LP-Gas Cylinders of the U.S. Department of Transportaon (D.O.T.). This appliance
has been designed for use with a 20 lb. (9.1 kg) size propane cylinder only (not supplied).
The propane cylinder must be provided with a cylinder connecon device compable with the connecon
for outdoor cooking appliances. The propane cylinder must be provided with a shut-o valve terminang
in a propane cylinder valve type QCC1, and a safety relief device having direct communicaon with the
vapor space of the cylinder. The cylinder supply system must be arranged for vapor withdrawal and the
cylinder shall include a collar to protect the cylinder valve. The cylinder shall incorporate a listed OPD
(overll protecon device). Do not store a spare LP-gas cylinder under or near this appliance. Never ll
the cylinder beyond 80 percent full.
The outdoor cooking gas appliance and its individual shuto valve must be disconnected from the gas
supply piping system during an pressure tesng of that system at test pressures in excess of 0.5 psi (3.5
kPa).
The outdoor cooking gas appliance must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its
individual manual shuto valve during any pressure tesng of the gas supply piping system at test
pressures equal to or less than 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa).
Gas Hook-Up Instrucons
WARNING! This grill is designed for non-combusble enclosures only, and must be installed and
serviced by a qualied installer to local codes.
WARNING! Cabinet frame and cabinet must be made from non-combusble material.
Built In Propane Gas Hook-Up: The piping up to the gas grill is the responsibility of the installer and piping
should be located as shown in the built-in instrucons. Do not use hose to connect the unit. It must be
connected with rigid pipe, copper tube or an approved exible metal connector. The installaon must
comply with CAN B149.1 Natural Gas and Propane installaon code in Canada, or to the Naonal Fuel
Gas code, ANSI Z223.1 in the United States. The minimum recommended piping size is NPS 1/2” for
rigid pipe, and 1/2” OD for copper tubing (based on a 20 . run). Longer runs may require larger sizes
to conform with local codes or to conform with CAN B149.1. Propane Gas Installaon Code in Canada or
to the Naonal Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1 in the United States. A exible metal connector is included
to simplify the installaon of the unit. Connect this connector to the 3/8” are ng on the end of the
manifold. Connect the other end of the connector to the gas piping. Ensure that the connector does not
pass through a wall, oor, ceiling or paron, and is protected from damage. Do not use hose to connect
the unit. For the BISZ300, the gas supply must be connected to the 3/8” are elbow ng located under
the right hand side of the control panel. For the BISB245, the gas supply must be connected to the 3/8”
are ng located under the center of the control panel. If installing a side burner, a separate line must
be branched o to the side burner unit and enter the side burner opening at the specied locaon. If the
enclosure is to house a propane cylinder, the tank poron of the enclosure must be venlated according
to local codes, and must not have communicaon with the cavity used to enclose the gas grill. A propane
tank can not be stored below the gas grill.
