Cuisinart CPC-610XA Questions and Answers

#1 Can this pressure cooker be used to can vegetables & fruits for preserving?

Cuisinart does NOT endorse using our pressure cookers for any canning processes. It is especially dangerous to use these appliances to attempt to can meat or vegetables. Pressure canning low-acidic foods is a tightly controlled process. When sealed in a container, all low-acid foods provide the ideal conditions for the growth of Botulism, a deadly bacteria which is odour free, tasteless & otherwise invisible. Only use a pressure canner appliance to can foods.

#2 Can you cook a whole chicken i.e. size 1.8kg?

Yes, you can cook a whole chicken, up to 1.8kgs in weight using the Quick Pressure Release method with an estimated cooking time of 24 to 28 minutes.

#3 Can you cook rice in this pressure cooker?

Yes, rice & grains cook best in a large amount of water, with the excess water drained when cooking & when pressure is released. In most cases, cooking is done using High Pressure, followed by a combination of Natural & Quick Pressure Release. If further cooking is needed, select Simmer and cook until tender. Rice & grains are best slightly undercooked if they are to be added to soups or casseroles. Oil or butter must be added to prevent foaming. Refer to page 5 of the recipe booklet for cooking instructions & guides on different grains & rice.
