The drawings are designed merely to illustrate the features of the scales
and do not strictly reflect reality.
In the consumer’s interest, TEFAL SAS reserves the right to modify the characteristics
or components of the product at any time.
Measuring principle
When you step on the scales, a very weak electric current is transmitted
to your body by the electrodes.
This current, which travels from one foot to the other, is slowed down
by body fat. This body resistance, known as bio-electrical impedance,
varies according to the user’s sex, height and age. It makes it possible to
measure body fat and its minimum and maximum range.
This appliance presents no danger as it runs on very weak current
(2 LR03 AAA 1.5 V batteries). However, there is a risk of getting a false
measurement in the following cases:
- Person with fever
- Child under the age of 6 (appliance not calibrated below that age)
- Pregnant woman (no danger)
- Person under dialysis, person with swollen legs, person suffering from
dysmorphia.
Preventing obesity starting in childhood
These scales provide an efficient way of tracking weight problems right
from childhood. Indeed, the growth period is when the characteristics of
the human body change the most and it is often difficult to detect a drift.
Yet a tendency towards obesity, for example, is treated much more
efficiently if it is detected early, thereby avoiding that the child becomes
obese as an adult. These scales are designed to keep track of the
percentage of body fat from the age of 6.
