Getting Started
Step 2: Connecting to Your AV Amplifier (Receiver)
AV amplifier (receiver) and cable requirements differ as follows, depending on the source.
To enjoy BD high quality sound, set “BD Audio Setting” to “Direct” in the “Audio Settings”
setup (page 66).
To enjoy secondary audio and interactive audio, set “BD Audio Setting” to “Mix” in the “Audio
Settings” setup (page 66).
* When “BD Audio Setting” is set to “Direct” in the
“Audio Settings” setup, audio signals decoded by
the AV amplifier (receiver) are output.
z
The supported audio formats of BDs/DVDs are
specified on the back of each package.
For details on audio output signals, see “Audio
Output Signals” on page 83.
b
When you connect the player to your AV
amplifier (receiver) using an HDMI cable, do one
of the following:
Connect your AV amplifier (receiver) to your
TV using an HDMI cable, or
Connect the player to your TV using a video
cable other than an HDMI cable (component
video cable or audio/video cord).
If you connect a component that does not conform
to the selected audio signal, a loud noise (or no
sound) will come from the speakers, which could
damage your ears or the speakers.
