11.2 Polarization Test
Method
As a routine production-line verification, each cord-connected appliance provided with a 2-wire polarized plug,
shall be examined or tested for electrical continuity between the ungrounded circuit supply conductor of the
attachment plug (narrow blade) and all components intended to be connected to the ungrounded conductor. If
the continuity cannot be readily determined by visual inspection and component checking, an electrical continuity
test is to be conducted.
a) The switch, if employed and
b) The thermal protect device, if employed
Any indicating device such as ohmmeter, a battery-and-buzzer combination, or the like, shall be used to
determine compliance with the continuity requirements mentioned above.
