Schlage FE575 PLY 626 ELA Questions and Answers

#1 Does the keypad have enough room between a typical door hole and dead bolt hole? Or is resizing necessary?

Resizing is not necessary, we still have our regular dead bolt in place and didn't have to change anything. This is a great keypad, I highly recommend it!

#2 Is the handle reversable?

Yes, the handles are reversible. The are shown wrong in this photo. One handle goes left and on goes right. They can be changed depending if you have a right of left opening door.

#3 There are no markings on the interior lever that selects between autolock and passage modes. How can you tell at a glance what mode the lock is in ?

If the interior lever is in the horizontal position, the door is locked and you need the code to open it. By putting the lever in the vertical position, you can open the door from the outside without the code.

#4 Can I open the door from the inside, even when locked? Fire marshall "quick exit" requirement!

Yes, you can always open the door from the inside.

#5 Does this work like a dead bolt so that this would be the only lock needed?

No, this is a replacement for the regular door latch and lock. The FE365 is what you need for the deadbolt. I use both. Note: A locksmith can re-core the locks so they all use the same key for the key bypass. I find that simpler than having to keep a bunch of bypass keys.

#6 Is it true when the battery is dead the door will be unlocked

That is true my door battery Dead and it unlock by it self. and I replace the battery and it stay unlock, I can't reset it back to lock handy. Can some one out there can tell me how to set it up again to LOCK.
