To work with dust extraction, remove the dust protection
cover(9).
Attach the dust extraction adapter (10) to the extraction
outlet (8). A dust extraction hose with a diameter of 19 mm
can be connected to the dust extraction adapter (10).
You will find an overview of connecting to various dust ex-
tractors at the end of these operating instructions.
The dust extractor must be suitable for the material being
worked.
When extracting dry dust that is especially detrimental to
health or carcinogenic, use a special dust extractor.
Changing the sanding sheet (see figure D)
Remove dirt and dust from the sanding plate (6), e.g. with a
brush, before attaching a new sanding sheet.
To ensure optimum dust extraction, make sure that the
punched holes in the sanding sheet are aligned with the
drilled holes in the sanding plate.
The sanding plate (6) is fitted with a hook-and-loop fasten-
ing, allowing sanding sheets with a hook-and-loop backing to
be secured quickly and easily.
Tap the hook-and-loop fastening of the sanding plate (6) be-
fore fitting the sanding sheet (5) to facilitate maximum adhe-
sion.
The power tool is equipped with two sanding sheets. De-
pending on their state of wear, these can also be changed in-
dividually.
u Only use the power tool when both sanding sheets are
fitted.
u Only use sanding sheets with the same grit.
Position the sanding sheet (5) so that it is flush with one a
side of the sanding plate (6), then place the sanding sheet
on the sanding plate and press it on firmly.
To remove the sanding sheet (5), take hold of it by an edge
and pull it away from the sanding plate (6).
You can use the Bosch delta sander sanding sheets.
Sanding accessories such as fleece/polishing felt are at-
tached to the sanding plate in the same way.
Choosing the sanding sheet
Different sanding sheets are available, depending on the ma-
terial you are working with and the required surface removal
rate:
Task Grit
Can be used to work on all materials including
wood, paint, filler, varnish, hard and softwood
as well as chipboard and metal.
40–180
For pre-sanding, e.g. of rough and un-
even beams and boards
Coarse 40
For surface sanding and levelling of
slight irregularities
Medium 80, 120
For finishing and fine sanding of hard
woods
Fine 180
For any finishing work, such as polishing (metal and stone in
particular), use fleece/polishing felt.
Different types of fleece and polishing felts should be used
depending on the surface finish required on the workpiece.
Changing the sanding plate
The supplied sanding plate (6) comprises two parts: The
base plate and the replaceable front plate. The front plate is
fitted with a hook-and-loop fastening and can be replaced.
To remove the front plate, take hold of it by a corner and pull
it away.
Operation
Starting Operation
Inserting the battery
u Use only original Bosch lithium-ion batteries with the
voltage stated on the type plate of your power tool.
Using other batteries can lead to injuries and pose a fire
hazard.
Switching On and Off
u Make sure that you are able to press the On/Off switch
without releasing the handle.
To start the power tool, push the on/off switch (2) forwards
and into the "I" position.
To turn off the power tool, push the on/off switch (2) for-
wards and into the "0" position.
Battery charge indicator/overload indicator
The battery charge indicator/overload indicator(1) shows
the state of charge of the battery or indicates overload states
when the power tool is switched on.
LED Capacity
Green continuous light ≥30%
Red continuous light <30%
During operation with an increased load, the battery charge
indicator/overload indicator(1) flashes green. This indic-
ates that the power tool is working with a higher orbital
stroke rate and is achieving a higher material removal rate.
In normal conditions of use, the power tool cannot be over-
loaded. If the load is too high, the battery charge indicator/
overload indicator(1) flashes red for up to approx.
twoseconds. For longer overloads, the motor begins to stop
within onesecond and the battery charge indicator/overload
indicator(1) flashes red for approx. fiveseconds.
If the permitted battery temperature of 70°C is exceeded,
the electronics of the power tool will switch off immediately
until the temperature returns to the optimum operating tem-
perature range. The battery charge indicator/overload indic-
ator(1) flashes red for approx. 5seconds.
Note: If the power tool shuts down automatically because
the battery is flat or overheated, switch the power tool off
using the on/off switch (2).
Charge the battery or let it cool down before switching the
power tool on again. Failure to do so can damage the bat-
tery.
